A PREVIEW OF THE PROJECT DONE IN 2011
ADRA Connections NEPAL PROJECT is a volunteer program in Nepal where one can visit this wonderful country while fully involving a real humanitarian project ADRA ! The primary objective of this humanitarian mission is to work with developing communities near Kathmandu to create small changes that will last a lifetime.
A group of persons will be going to Nepal this September where volunteers will be able to fund and complete their own ADRA project! This will be a great experience for anyone who wants to see the work first hand, be actively involved and see some of the best sights the world has to offer! The project involves the refurbishment of a library at an impoverished primary/secondary school near Kathmandu.
The trip is between September 6th - 16th.The beginning of the trip will be spent on the ADRA project (building, renovating etc with local workers) and then to discover a part of the country by sharing with the local people.
WHAT IS ADRA?
The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) was started by the Seventh-day Adventist Church as a way to follow Christ’s example of serving and caring for those in need. Put simply, ADRA improves the lives of people around the world. The agency searches out deprivation, social injustice, and need—then works to eliminate them. ADRA invests in the potential of individuals through advocacy, supporting families, promoting health, providing food and water, establishing livelihoods, and responding to emergencies.
ADRA seeks to identify and address social injustice and deprivation in developing countries. The agency’s work seeks to improve the quality of life of those in need. ADRA invests in the potential of these individuals through community development initiatives targeting Food Security, Economic Development, Primary Health and Basic Education. ADRA’s emergency management initiatives provide aid to disaster survivors.
