A documentary film about the happiness and the courage to live our dreams.

The project

“Life is not for dreaming, but for living your dreams”

Our project is as ambitious as it is modest. We want to make a documentary film about the value, the simplicity and the experience of happiness. We are two friends, both big dreamers, and passionate about cinema. By capturing our dream in a documentary film we wish to show the world that everything is possible, if only we have the willingness, the ability and the openness to love, and above all the courage to stand for our dreams and desires.

To all those who think that travelling  is difficult, that the world is losing its humanity, that happiness is based on money, that people are no longer able to love... well, I, Adrien say no ! ...We want to show that life is limited only by the constraints that we ourselves set. That love is what makes the impossible possible...

A touch of craziness and bucket-loads of enthusiasm and curiosity are what make for an exciting life. Luckily we have plenty of both.

The idea and the route ?

The idea is simple. A bicycle for each of us, a tent, a stove and a few clothes. Nothing more. Leaving from Arles (Adrien’s birthplace) and cycling to Riga, Latvia, Asnate’s home country. Via the south coast of France, Italy, Croatia, Hungary, Slovenia and Poland, we are planning to accomplish a journey of 3500 to 4000 km in total, over a period of three months.

We will film our journey ourselves, on the road and in the heart of the action, using two Gopro cameras attached to our bikes. We will also use a camcorder for shooting scenery, people, conversations, parties etc. during our stops.

The concept ?

Travelling without money, surviving on love, following the path guided by our heart. How to manage it? There is always a way if one is not afraid to speak to people. To approach someone else is to discover a new person, perhaps a friend, perhaps a kind soul.

Our aim is to cycle and to help as many people as possible on our way. It may simply be helping an old lady to carry her bags from the grocery store or staying a few days at a farmer’s house to help to repair his roof. Helping without expecting something in return for then the return comes naturally.

After many trips I, Adrian have realized that human relationships are what makes the world go round. They show us that we are not alone and that we are happier and more efficient if we stick together.

Today’s society often misleads us about what is really important in life. Through this documentary illustrating our journey, we want to remind the world how wonderful nature, mankind and culture are.

We want to share with as many people as possible the most valuable thing in life which cannot be bought: happiness.

We wish to share this experience of being-in-the-moment happiness directly with people we will meet on our way. Beyond that, we would like to share this adventure and “dream come true” experience with you and the world. The aim of our project is to encourage people to be happy, daring to live the life they have always dreamed of, to be simple and open to the world and to people.

The story ?

For obvious reasons, we are not able to give a precise synopsis. However, we can promise that the film will be a mix of genres, telling about friendship and love, travelling and encounters experienced on the way; it will also show the different countries we have crossed as well as their cultures and food traditions. Emotions, smiles and adventure are guaranteed.

It will be a documentary telling our personal story, for sure. Most works of art, however universal, were initially inspired by personal stories and experience. We hope that, in a similar way, sharing our experience through this film will inspire and encourage some people to be happier ... if this is the case, then our goal will have been achieved.

"Life is the only game where you are sure to lose. But as with all games, it is not the winning, but the taking part that is important."

Adrien on Asnate

Asnate, alias a ray of sunshine. She will blow you away with her beauty and her smile. She is purity personified.

I met her 2 years ago in Arles, she was my flatmate. She was sitting on the window ledge greeting passers-by with a huge smile….everyone fell for her charm. A simplicity and an engaging love of life. Which led to her knocking at all the doors in our street and inviting everyone to a huge meal in the street….people came together and smiled all evening, so it was that 2 weeks after she arrived she already knew almost as many people as me, who had been living there since the age of three.

She is the proof that everyone is a friend waiting to be made. I’ve never come across anyone who was unable to give their best in Asnate’s presence.

Asnate  on Adrien

Adrien is a big dreamer who can make his dreams irresistible in the telling. At the same time he can take people on a journey just by recounting stories of his many travels. He captivates people with his natural, spontaneous and sincere personality, and gets them to follow his adventures. Above all, he makes his dreams come true no matter how crazy they may seem.

When you are in Adrien’s company, the sun seems to shine a little brighter, the sky seems bluer than usual, and feelings are more intense and more real. Adrien has this amazing capacity to show that everything is allowed in the pursuit of happiness, that there is no need to be afraid or ashamed to shed what is considered ‘normal’.

There is madness in him, and he likes to show it to make others smile. Every time he has visited me in Paris, he has created magic, unforgettable moments, for passers-by in the street as much as for us. He showed no embarrassment, for example, going to do his Saturday morning shopping wearing just my dressing –gown and my flip flops when he was here for a few days at Christmas. And he made many people smile as he made his way through the shop.

Adrien knows how to seize the present moment whilst at the same time dreaming about the future.

Why fund it?

The collected money  will be used to purchase the necessary equipment for the project.

Purchase of Gopro camera: 350 €

Purchase of Gopro accessories: 50 €

Purchase of camcorder: 250 €

Purchase of a bike GPS: 300 €

Purchase of bags and a trailer for bicycles: 200 €

Purchase of cycling clothing: 300 €

Repairing bicycles on the road: 200 €

Purchase of plane tickets for return journey: 200 €

Financing of rewards : 150 €

If we collect more than we expect?

If funding exceeds our initial goal, the extra will be used for post-production and distribution of the documentary. And if we collect a lot more than expected, we will invest this in a further documentary somewhere else in the world.

And afterwards ?

If by chance the film is much more successful than we expect, we plan to travel round the world by bike, following the same concept. We will offer the finished version to French and Latvian TV channels. If there are interested people out there, you haven’t seen the last of us, and maybe we will even come by your place and paint a room for you, if it needs doing.

Although we’ve only known each other for 2 years, we’ve quickly become very close friends. We met thanks to a beautiful house in Arles in which we were living as flatmates and since then we’ve had many beautiful moments and unforgettable adventures together. We are 100% honest, and 100% ourselves around each other, which is why we value this friendship... See more
