Funny Parisian Birds
Grumpy, in a rush, or romantic, Parisians are some funny kind of birds. “Journal Errratum” and “Maison Tangible” are inviting 15 artists to draw with humour the Parisian clichés.
All the images will be presented in a exhibition that will be travelling around Paris and elsewhere in France - and hopefully also around the world!
Piafs ! Funny parisian birds…
... needs you to finalize the project
… is a touring exhibition gathering a series of 15 illustrations, that can be animated with augmented reality
… is based on an original idea from Amaël Isnard, Emmanuelle Leleu and Benjamin Flouw, 3 parisian artists.

… will be launching at Les puces de l’illustration de Bagnolet (93) on the 9th of December

THE 15 ARTISTS
“Journal Errratum” – contemporary illustration magazine – and “Maison Tangible” – publisher of images and graphic objects – teamed up to publish a serie of illustrations about funny Parisian birds.
A hipster blackbird, ducks swimming at the Aquaboulevard, or a swallow waiting for spring at a café, the PIAFS ! exhibition gathers 15 artists, 15 unique images that can be animated with augmented reality, 15 different ways of seeing the Parisians, no matter if you’re a tourist on a holiday romance or a proud descendant of the local native.
Today we need your support, in order to finalise the project and let our birds fly away to new destinations.
That is why we are doing pre-sales, at reduced prices for all our backers, and we will be sending all rewards before Christmas*!
Backing this exhibition is the perfect occasion to do an original present and support an artistic project at the same time.
(*parcels will be sent around the 18th of December)
MORE ABOUT THE PROJECT
“PIAFS !” is an augmented reality exhibition. Thanks to the mobile app from Maison Tangible, all these birds come to life just in front of your eyes. On posters, postcards or on a website, anywhere you see the birds, you can make them fly ! Just download the app (available for free on iOS and Android) and fly over the images to make them move!
THE 4 DIFFERENT FORMATS
* LARGE POSTER / 50 x 70 cm - Numbered Digigraphie
* POSTER A3 / 30 x 40 cm - Numbered Digigraphie
* SMALL POSTER A4 / 20 x 30 cm - Numbered Digigraphie
* POSTCARDS / 10 x15 cm - Offset print
PIAFS ! has been conceived as a nomad exhibition, modular and easily accessed. It will be shown in several venues (galleries, shops, events connected to the art scene) from Winter 2017 onwards. We want to make it live as long as possible. And maybe, in the future, add some new birds or new cities.
WHAT IS AUGMENTED REALITY?
Augmented reality is a technical process that creates the illusion that virtual objects are integrated in our physical world. With the “Maison Tangible AR” app - available on iOS and Android - you can bring your images to life through your smartphone or tablet.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
1. Download the app here (https://www.maison-tangible.fr/realite-augmentee)
2. Launch the app and hover over the image
3. Your device recognise automatically the image and animate it
This works on printed images but also on the ones displayed on screen - Just try it by yourself!

THE FIRST EXHIBITION
We are happy to present the collection, in world premiere, at the great event Les Puces de l’Illustration at Bagnolet (93). Maison Tangible and Errratum are partners of the event this year and you will be able to live the experience in augmented reality the 9th and 10th December, at Campus Fonderie de l’Image.
We want to reduce the steps in the production to offer affordable objects, ethic and fair-trade. The large posters will be printed in Digigraphie on heavyweight paper in our studio in Paris, to insure the best quality possible.
The artists and the people behind this project are volunteers and give their time to propose original art to the public.
From the beginning to the end of this adventure, the project is supported by a few people who decided to volunteer themselves.
-The original idea
Amael Isnard, Emmanuelle Leleu and Benjamin Flouw are friends and artists too. One day, they imagine what kind of bird the Parisians are… Illustrations come to life, it’s the beginning of the serie…
Maison Tangible is a publishing house of illustrations and manufactured objects. Working as an non-profit organization, it invites artists to create posters, postal cards, games, wooden games… Highly motivated by the birds illustrations, Maison Tangible starts to think about an augmented reality collection based on this theme and about the creation of a nomad exhibition to show the illustrations to the people.
Maison Tangible starts to work with Errratum (after few others collaborations) to imagine the final shape of the project.
The Journal Errratum, a reference in the contemporary illustrations magazines, knows well the three artists since it already published their work in its newspaper, and it’s with a huge enthusiasm that it starts to support the adventure on the social network to contact other artists and give to the project a concrete framework to the collection and the exhibition.

MAISON TANGIBLE :
All contributors to the exhibition are doing it on a voluntary basis, meaning that the curators and the artists have been investing personal funds in order to start the project. The Journal Erratum and Maison Tangible already invested around 6.000€ in the project.
We still need to fund the printing of the postcards, ink cartridges and fine art paper for the Digigraphie printer, and support the costs of a touring exhibition around France.
We are almost there but we still need your help to collect enough money to help us to keep the project alive. That is why we are organizing pre-sales on Kisskissbankbank.
Maison Tangible, a non-profit organization represented by Aurélien Jeanney its president, will get the full amount of the funds and will redistribute the money among the collaborators accordingly to their needs.
The funds will serve to:
45% of the money collected will help us to print
We bought a professional printer in order to give you the best quality possible with pigment-based inks in order to make the colors pop more and ensure the longevity of the prints over many generations. For this we need to buy special inks, fine art paper and so on. We also need to print the postcard collection.
25% will help us to support the exhibition costs
In order to display the images properly, we need frames, design some furnitures adapted for a touring exhibition, and cover every single costs from transportation to the finished scenography.
10% will help us to update the app with the new images
We already have developed an app to allows us animate images but we need to update it with the new content for the exhibition.
12% will help us to cover all other costs
Because there are always some extra costs that you need to include in your calculation (like taxes, costs for the crowd-funding campaign, costs for the shipping…).
8 % is going to KissKissBankBank
WHAT IF WE COLLECT MORE
Everything will be reinvested in the project or future projects. We would like to add new birds to the collection, allow the exhibition to tour to other countries, invite artists to create birds from other cities… There are a lot of possibilities to keep the project going on.
