STEEL CITY SOUND SYSTEM MOVEMENT

<p> The <strong>STEEL CITY SOUND SYSTEM  MOVEMENT</strong> is a performance and  intervention which is on the one hand meant to give life to different urban spaces and non-places, and on the other hand to break  down cultural barriers through artistic methods. According to the motto „deeply rooted  in the urban“, established negative connotations of traditional and folksy appearances and behaviors should  be broken down and mixed up. The SCSSM was created to free the roots of traditional Austrian culture  from a conservative and narrowminded image. The SCSSM stands  for<strong> frankness</strong> and the willingness for cultural exchange as a sign for a versatile and constructive coexistence in urban areas. </p> <p>  </p> <p>  </p> <p> <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=143120689231475&amp;set=a.143120685898142.1073741827.143119205898290&amp;type=1&amp;theater" target="_blank"><img alt="Cover Photos | Facebook" src="http://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/s720x720/1236970_143120689231475_394781347_n.jpg"></a></p> <p>  </p> <p>  </p> <p> The SCSSM in its actual form with its Austrian background - created in  „Steel City“ Linz, Upper Austria - shall just act as a symbolic place holder,  rather the SCSSM hopes to be an impulse for further openness in the minds of people of diverse cultural and national backgrounds, in the sense of appreciation of ones own roots as well as tolerance and respect towards other cultures.  </p> <p> The project <strong>doesn‘t only reflect </strong><strong>Austrian traditions</strong> in the visual way but  also the development towards an actual  valid urban sign language. Also the musical part of the project is a cultural melting pot. The jamaican roots of the soundsystem get mixed up with elements of contemporary  Upper Austrian sound culture. <strong>Music is the link through cultures and venues and is held in high esteem.</strong></p> <p>  </p> <p>  </p> <p> <u><strong>B/L/OOMBOX</strong></u></p> <p>  </p> <p> The soundsystem as multifunctional sound-sedan will be carried through parts of  the city, surrounded by individuals carrying and wearing symbols of  their own cultural background, to share and  mix it and to immerse into a moving cultural collage. The  workshops deal with creative forms of expression e.g. DJing, songwriting, music production, visual art, street art, political, environmental, social and cultural education, alternative transportation vehicles, self sufficient and  independent living and the discussion of sociocultural aspects of art  in relation to the actual location and the personal background of the residents. Results of the workshops can either be shown in the STEEL CITY  SOUND SYSTEM MOVEMENT performances or at different  atypical venues to create impulses for further networking among the participants.
