A different school for village children in India

<p>Dear all!</p><p>We haven't sent any news for a long time but it doesn't mean nothing has happened!</p><p>Indeed we have been very busy recently; well, as busy as the hot season will let us be! We have been juggling between laziness due to the hammering heat, looking after our (teething!) baby girl, the Indian family visiting during school holidays, the numerous power cuts (recently we've been having power cuts everyday pretty much as soon as it starts raining or there is a storm!), the fact that things... take... time... in India! and of course, the project.</p><p>We have to mention that because of the heat, and because all our kids are on summer holiday at the moment with many away visiting family, we are not teaching at The Different School in May and June. This isn't a bad thing though as it gives us time to get organised for the next season! Below is a summary of our latest news:</p><p>* So far we have used your contributions only to pay for the school rent and to buy the printer/photocopier/scanner. During 3 weeks of April Vijay was very busy working on the documentary of our cousin, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.ekifin.be/projects/chicon-tandoori/">Chicon Tandoori</a>, now the school is on holiday and we have been busy with other parts of our project work, but we will deal with the reparation work and other purchases for the school later this month.</p><p>* Since about a month we have been working on the creation of our French association (drafting the statutes, deciding of its name, designing a logo etc.) which will be registered in the next few days by our associate Aurélie. We have also started working on its website.</p><p>* As soon as the NGO is registered and we have its registration number we will focus on finding 2 volunteers for the Different School. We are currently working on the subjects' definition, practical details of the school and drafting job specifications for the volunteers...</p><p>* We are regularly working with our partners the association <a target="_blank" href="http://ganpati.no">Ganpati Norway</a> to sponsor <a target="_blank" href="http://friendsinkhajuraho.blogspot.in/2016/12/new-sponsorship-project-aryans-family.html">Aryan's family</a>, who live about 2 kilometres away from Khajuraho in the village Tikri.</p><p>* Again in partnership with Ganpati, we have started a <a target="_blank" href="http://friendsinkhajuraho.blogspot.in/2017/04/new-project-literacy-classes.html">literacy project</a> in Tikri. The teacher is Vijay's brother Ravi and the classes are held four times a week.</p><p>* Still with Ganpati, we went to Tikri last week to <a target="_blank" href="http://friendsinkhajuraho.blogspot.in/2017/05/our-first-clothing-distribution-in-tikri.html">distribute some clothes and toys</a> for underprivileged children and adults.</p><p>* We have a new <a target="_blank" href="http://friendsinkhajuraho.blogspot.in/2017/05/coming-up-cloth-bags-project.html">cloth bags project</a> to fight again the use of single-use plastic bags in Khajuraho. Funnily enough, just last week the municipality announced a ban on plastic bags! We already have potential partners and will be looking for a volunteer for this project.</p><p>That's it!
