Aleppo the white: land of marble and milk
<p>Images talk and tell stories.</p><p> </p><p>I would like to tell you the story of a country riddles with bullets and scars, but where life overflows from the rubble. </p><p> </p><p>In the media, today’s stories are forgotten tomorrow. In the winter of 2016, whereas the bombs were raining on <strong>Aleppo</strong>, I travelled to the city to try to make sense of a senseless situation.</p><p>In this book, I want to shed light on one of the darkest chapters of the Syrian tragedy and the harm it has caused to a country and all its citizens.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Far from being an epitaph to a great city that was once a cornerstone of the Silk Road, this book is a plea for its revival. </strong></p><p> </p><p> -----------</p><p> </p><p>Through my photos and those of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.facebook.com/Catherinewardphotography/">Catherine Ward</a>, a young photographer from Aleppo who has never wanted to leave her hometown, this book immortalizes the damages caused by the war to the city and its inhabitants. <br />From our respective experiences, comes a dialogue between texts and images which pays tribute to anonyms which have names, stories, dreams and fears, and who can only count on their willingness to live to survive. </p><p> </p><p><em><strong>More than a testimony, "Aleppo the white: land of marble and milk” is about remembering the people we’ve crossed paths with, the people who have stared death in the face but continue living with their heads held high. </strong></em></p><p> </p><p><img width="100%" alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/508727/DSC08068-1523266629-1524398012.JPG" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p><img width="100%" alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/508728/15895689_10157941915485364_8175504958793559288_o-1523270051-1524398052.jpg" /></p>

<p><strong>By financially supporting this project, or pre-ordering a copy of the book, you will support us self-publish our book and ensure the story we want to tell is never forgotten. </strong></p><p> </p><p><img width="100%" alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/508730/Capture_d__cran__130_-1524398406.png" /></p><p> </p><p>If the amount requested is exceeded, the surplus will be used to print more copies of the book to ensure a greater dissemination.</p><p> </p><p>A percentage of the sales of "Aleppo the white: land of marble and milk” will be donated to the education project of the non-profit organisation <a target="_blank" href="http://bdle.org/">Les Baroudeurs de l'Espoir</a>’s which aims to provide humanitarian support to civilians in conflict-affected countries.</p><p> </p><p><strong><em>Thanks to you all for supporting this crowd funding campaign if you are able to, sharing the information or for supporting us bring hope in these dark times. </em></strong></p><p> </p><p><strong>!! شكرا جزيل</strong></p>
