The most tragic massacre of this war (My Lai) is an hour away from Co Go.
The village was destroyed and burns 5 times.
The inhabitants of Co Go are old (80%). The children went to the city to try to make a living. The villagers are fishermen-farmers practicing artisanal fishing and small food crops (pineapple, potato, etc.).
They are still building their own bamboo boats.
Some women produce nets and fillet traps sold in nearby markets.

Co Go village is in the perimeter of a UNESCO Geopark project (Ly Son-Sa Huyn Geopark) carried by the Province which should apply by the end of 2019. Thanks to this UNESCO Geopark project,
http://lysonsahuynhgeopark.com/en/
the villagers of Co Go wanted to invest in the project and created a cooperative to develop their village in a sustainable way by offering a respectful and intelligent tourism.
In their vision for the future, villagers know clearly what they want and what they do not want. They do not create the cooperative to "earn more money" but so that their children can return to the village and make a living here.
The village and the region are part of the Bai Choi region, which is a form of spoken song (rap!) Classified by UNESCO as Intangible Heritage of Humanity
https://ich.unesco.org/en/RL/the-art-of-bai-choi-in-central-viet-nam-01222

In the village, about ten people, mostly women practice Bai Choi, create songs at any time of the day.
Ms. Van (left in blue on the video) is a "leader" of the village, singer and creator of Bai Choi. Passionate about music she makes "instruments" with what she gets on the beaches.
https://www.facebook.com/guy.martini.7/videos/10218097155315943/

With the village cooperative and with the help of a private company whose owner was born and has his family home in the village, the inhabitants develop an integrated strategy of sustainable development. For this they plan on the year 2019-2020

1- Photographic mission
With the support of a French art institution (Gassendi-Digne les Bains Museum), a traveling photographer will perform a 15-day immersion in the village sharing the daily life of its inhabitants. This photographic work will allow a "union" of the village around the project and will give rise to publications, exhibitions in Vietnam as in France.
The photographer will be a renowned traveler photographer whose name will be revealed in a few weeks.

2- Development of Bai Choi
The village has "masters" of this art / music in disappearance but intangible heritage UNESCO. The project is to allow the villagers to participate (for the first time) in the few "competitions" of Bai Choi existing in Vietnam. To develop the necessary conditions for the villagers to transmit this art to younger generations. Subsequently, to consider the creation, in the village, of a festival of Bai Choi.

3- Kite Festival
Subject to the winds of the sea, the villagers in their childhood were building kites. This art has disappeared today but the knowledge remains in their memory. They would like to organize a kite festival. Not just kites but kites that would carry the words and lyrics of their songs (Bai Choi). For this reason, they wish to invite kite masters to their village to learn new techniques. The first festival will be organized at the beginning of 2020 at the province of Quang Ngai.
