Concert au profit des enfants de l'Abbaye de Valloires
<p>A concert on May 5th in the Abbaye de Valloires in the Somme. "L'ensemble H.3" will present a programme of Baroque choral/instrumental music directed by Ian Ward.</p><p>Composed of 28 professionals and passionate amateurs this group regularly performs in France and has also given concerts in Shrewsbury Abbey and Southend-on-Sea. Their director is well-know in Northern France as the conductor of 3 choirs and organiser of music festivals and to date his concerts have raised more than £10,000 for local and national charities.The principal work to be performes will be the magnicient “mass for double choir and orchestra” by Marc-Antoine Charpentier. Singers and instrumentalists are drawn from conservatoires in Rennes, Amiens, Paris and Abbeville.</p><p> </p><p><img width="100%" alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/486396/E_Southend2015_015-1518443366.jpg" /></p><p> </p><p>Ian Ward studied music at UCE in Birmingham and was director of 3 choirs and 2 orchestras in England as well as presenting a weekly radio show for BBC Shropshire before moving to France 11 years ago. Allocation of funds
<p>All profit from this event (after paying the musiciens of course!) will be donated to "La Maison d'Enfants à Caractère Social" which offers specialist education to 78 children aged 0-16.</p><p>Each child benefits from a personal education plan put in place by specialist teachers who work closely with the families and the Social Services It is hoped that the profit will fund equipment for the classrooms and maybe a trip to the sea-side!</p><p>For those who do not know this magnicicent building I strongly recommend that you visit their website where you can read about its history and the works that they do.</p><p>Ian has worked alongside the Abbey for some years providing choirs for weddings, funerals and special events as well as rasing money for their “opération ardoises” to finance the restoration of part of the building.</p><p> </p><p>The profit from this concert will be dontated to the Association de Valloires and will help pay for the childrens’ annual summer camp</p><p> </p><p>FINANCES -</p><p>Outgoings</p><p>Musicians' fees – 29 x €100 €2900</p><p>Purchase/rental of music scores €350</p><p>Meals for the musicians €200</p><p>TOTAL €3450</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Purchase of the concert by Abbaye de Valloires as part of their “cultural season”. Valloires benefits from any surplus in ticket sales over the €800.</p>
