The 384-page surf & travel guide to northwest Europe, from Lofoten, Norway to the north of France and everything in between.

The project

I Love the Seaside bring you another surf and travel guide: this time a printed 384-page to Northwest Europe (English language).

From don’t-forget-to-breathe-beautiful Lofoten, in the north of Norway, we surf our way down the west coast then explore the shores of Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Holland and Belgium, all the way to Normandy, in the north of France.

Ilts1clr-1511983534I Love the Seaside (that’s us) are a team of surfing travellers/travelling surfers who explore seaside spots, collect and collate all the best bits, and publish them so you can be inspired to explore too. We connect travellers, surfers and locals by sharing our favourite surf spots, places to hang out, and things to do.

Ilts1clrb-1511983785Last year (with your help and a successful crowdfund campaign!) we published our first surf and travel guide, which introduced you to the beautiful people and places along the coastlines of southwest Europe.

We got so much positive feedback from local people and businesses, and of course from you: the people who are travelling with our guide… which gave us the tremendous energy we need to continue this Seaside adventure.

And we’re not done yet with Europe!

There’s much more beauty to explore, to see, to share! There’s the North Sea with its stoked surfers. The pristine bays and vast landscape of Scandinavia. The welcoming warmth of the coldwater people.

Having travelled and surfed and slept, eaten and explored and met a whole lot of lovely local people in the north, we’re right now, as you read this, working on and fine-tuning yet another inspiring surf and travel guide: the I Love the Seaside Surf & Travel Guide to Northwest Europe.

We’re creating it with the help of the locals we met along the way and some very talented photographers, a filmer and our co-writer too, so of course, as with our first book, the Northwest Europe guide will be filled with great places to eat, drink, hang out, things to do besides surfing, people to meet, seaside locals, photos of stunning scenery, and loads of inspiration to take with you on your travels to the north.

What's included in the guide?

-       Maps

-       Beautiful and inspiring photos

-       Detailed and clear descriptions of surf breaks for all levels

FAQ Questions about the project

+ Is the guide only available in English?

Yes, we chose English, because we feel that between most travelling surfers of different nationalities this is usually the language used to communicate. We have both Dutch and native English editors and hope that our texts are an easy-read for everybody!

+ Why a printed guide book in this digital age?

We don't underestimate the power of digital media. In fact, we're using our own digital media to help grow the seaside connection, with stories, updates, inspiration. But let's focus on the guide; don't you love the idea? A book you can leaf through, a feelgood guide that brings you joy even before you go, inspires you, that you can make notes in, read on the beach or terrace and that hopefully holds strong memories in the end.

+ What does 10.000 euros cover exactly?

It covers:
- part of the printing / publishing of the guides
- rewards
- KissKissBankBank fee

+ Did the places, hotels etc, have to pay to appear in the guide?

Nope! We made it our mission to collect those fine addresses and initiatives that are done with the heart, run with passion and are original. Some places we knew already from former travels, some were suggested or recommended, either by locals or trusted partners and others we just stumbled upon, by faith.
To cover some of the costs, we do have a few advertisements, with partners we appreciate

+ Is the guide suited for all kind of travellers and budgets?

Yes, we selected warm, welcoming and personal places to stay for every budget: from hotel, hostel, resort, from bunk-bed to villa-de-luxe.
You'll find practical information on transport and how to get there in general, so whether you fly in and use public transport, rent a car or drive your own van, it suits all travellers.

+ If I, or my travel companions (partner/family) don't surf, is the guide still useful?

Yes, yes and yes! Especially couples or families with surfing and non-surfing members will find this guide useful and inspiring.
You'll find activities, such as yoga, horseriding, climbing, hiking, biking, SUP-tours, yoga and fun & adventurous stuff to do with kids, our selection of the nicest local bars, restaurants and places to sleep.
We give a clear description and visuals of the beaches, spots and surf areas (so you know if your non-surfing buddy or kids will like it too!)

+ What are the details, measurements and quality of the guide?

384 pages, 1 kg, 23x17 cm, Full Colour, 135 grs FSC silk mc mat coated paper, 300 grs FSC soft cover carton and flaps on both sides.

+ What happens with my money if you don't reach 10.000?

Of course we hope we will reach it, especially with your help. But the Kisskissbankbank platform is set up as all-or-nothing: if the goal is not reached, all the backers will get their money back.
