<strong>The Saharawis wait</strong>. They are condemned to perpetual anguish and perpetual nostalgia. The refugee camps carry the names of their kidnapped cities, their lost meeting places, their haunts: L’ayoun, Smara, Dakhla. They are called children of the clouds because they have always chased the rain. For more than 30 years they have also pursued justice, which in our world seems rarer even than water in the desert. My name is Stefano Montesi and I’m an italian photographer. I live and work in Rome and collaborate with various newspapers since 1980.. For some years I take great interest in the vicissitudes of saharawi people, chased away from their land by the Moroccan army and forced to live in refugee camps in the Hammada desert, in the south Algeria. Many times I visited these refugee camps where I have done thousands of photos those I hope will become a volume of photographs. I would like to let the world know sufferings but also the great dignity. This people live in exile since 1975 and the world seems to have forgotten them.</p>

<u>The volume of photographs is compound from 120 photos with captions</u>, it’s already made up into pages and includes also an interview with Omar Minh, representative of the Polisario Front in Italy. This book contains a chronology to reconstruct the events of the past from the 1514 UN Declaration of 1960, which acknowledge the indipendence of the people colonized, up to the 2010 protest in Gdeim Izik, the field of dignity, suppressed with bloodshed by the Moroccan government.</p>

<strong>I saharawi aspettano</strong>. Sono condannati alla pena dell'angoscia perpetua e della nostalgia perpetua. Gli accampamenti dei rifugiati portano i nomi delle città sequestrate, i loro perduti luoghi d'incontro, i loro affetti: El Aaiún, Smara... Loro si chiamano figli delle nuvole, perché da sempre inseguono la pioggia. Da più di trent'anni inseguono, per giunta, la giustizia, che nel mondo del nostro tempo sembra più schiva dell'acqua nel deserto. (Eduardo Galeano)</p>

Mi chiamo Stefano Montesi e sono un fotografo italiano, vivo e lavoro a Roma. Da alcuni anni seguo le vicende del popolo saharawi, un popolo scacciato con la forza dalla sua terra dall'esercito marocchino e costretto a vivere nei campi profughi nel deserto dell'Hammada, nel sud dell'Algeria. In numerose occasioni ho visitato questi campi profughi dove ho realizzato migliaia di fotografie che vorrei diventassero un libro. L'obiettivo è quello di far conoscere al mondo le sofferenze e soprattutto la grande dignità di questo popolo che dal 1975 vive in esilio e che il mondo sembra aver dimenticato.</p>

<u>Il volume fotografico è composto da 120 foto a colori</u>, relative didascalie, è già impaginato e contiene inoltre un'intervista a Omar Minh, rappresentante del Fronte Polisario in Italia e una cronologia che ricostruisce gli eventi degli ultimi anni, dalla dichiarazione 1514 dell'ONU del 1960 che riconosce il diritto di indipendenza per le popolazioni dei Paesi colonizzati fino alla protesta del 2010 a Gdeim Izik, il campo della dignità, repressa nel sangue dal governo marocchino.</p>

My intention is print a thousand copies of the book in three languages (italian, english and spanish) to assure his circulation worldwide. To do that needs 4300 euro so we are promoting this fundraise which serve for the printing of the book and for graphics.</p>

Per farlo occorrono 4300 euro e per questo abbiamo promosso questa raccolta di fondi che servono per la stampa del libro e per la grafica.</p>
