<p><strong>Hello,</strong></p><p><img alt="Capture_d__cran_2017-09-09___16.28.38-1504967598" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/449627/Capture_d__cran_2017-09-09___16.28.38-1504967598.png"></p><p> </p><p>My name is Marie, I am 22 years old and I am a student in first year of Master in Family Psychology in Besançon (yes, where it is cold and rain often enough ;)).</p><p> </p><p>I love traveling a lot and if I can travel and be useful it's great! I went to India twice to help in schools, orphanages, churches ...</p><p> </p><p>I spent a little time in England as an au pair, which allowed me to acquire a good level of English, which helps me a lot during my travels!</p><p> </p><p><img alt="Img_1953-1504966991" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/449624/IMG_1953-1504966991.jpg"></p><p> </p><p> </p><p><strong>So I decided to embark on a humanitarian project in Bali.</strong> Thanks to SVL.GLOBAL for this project.</p><p> </p><p>Project details:</p><p> </p><p><u>Psychiatric hospital</u>: These projects take place in a clinical setting in an Indonesian psychiatric hospital. So we need creativity and think about how best to help people who are all at different stages of their recovery. This focus on a particular skill and create an interactive activity with the team to enhance that function.</p><p> </p><p><u>English for Development</u>: Teach English to students in a school or it could be people from the local community, aged 40 and over, some who come from miles for your lessons. English is a real commodity in Indonesia and we have the tools needed to help have better professional prospects and increase their confidence by talking with them!</p><p> </p><p><u>Child Development</u>: Work also with children through partners who have requested additional support from creative and enthusiastic people to help children become interested in learning English and socializing in an alternative and creative way. Many of the facilities we work in are designed for children in very difficult environments. Use the skills learned throughout our studies and use other supports in addition to conversation therapy to allow children to explore their emotions in a non-confrontational and productive manner.</p><p> </p><p><u>Special needs work</u>: Beside the psychiatric facility, we will work in a number of schools and initiatives for those with special needs. With an average of 26% of inpatients residing in UK psychiatric facilities with overlapping additional needs such as autism or brain injury. In Indonesia, people with special needs have access to some support services for schools, government-run SLB facilities, or private foundations in their own communities. However, these facilities are often insufficiently funded and their teachers can use some support. We will use a combination of physical and mental activities to unlock creative potential within patients.</p><p> </p><p><u>Psychology workshops</u>: Every week we will attend a workshop on global approaches to mental health. Previous topics have been; Hypnotherapy, quantum life healing, art therapy, meditation and brain training for better mental health. These workshops are particularly useful for working in a culturally diverse environment in the future.</p><p> </p><p>It will be very interesting regard to culture, country, therapies ... And I am happy to discover this side of Bali : poverty, disease, need ... I will be able to share the life of several Indonesians, to discover their daily life, to be at their service and to learn enormously.</p><p> </p><p>"Throughout your placement your time will be split between a variety of projects to challenge you and ensure you put all your knowledge and previous experience to good use. You'll be running sessions in one of Indonesia's inpatient psychiatric facilities as well as teaching English and working with people with specific needs.</p><p>There are also weekly workshops, which focus on alternative treatments for individuals with mental health issues.
