Operation 15+15+15

From 15 April to 29 May we are seeking to raise €15,000 to buy 15 devices (8 computers, 3 information display screens, a printer, a projector screen, speakers and a server). This equipment will enable us to provide an efficient service to the underprivileged people who use our services, using high-tech infrastructure to automate all of our management procedures, and allowing us to focus on welcoming them as people.

Computers are essential for all kinds of administrative procedures, so four will be reserved for our users, enabling them to find their way through the administrative maze which often confronts those in a vulnerable situation. An information desk, developed in cooperation with partners in the field, will provide up-to-date, centralised information about the various services available in Brussels.

Should this crowdfunding generate more than €15.000, surplus funds will be used for sponsoring X showers taken by underprivileged persons who can't afford paying the actual cost price. In the new building, homeless people will be charged €1 per shower. To the organisation it will, however, cost €5,66 to provide a shower to one person. We therefore call on the general public to help cover the difference of €4,66 per shower. According to this reasoning, a donation of 45€ will allow 10 homeless people to take a shower and, at the same time, it will help DoucheFLUX manage its operating budget. Fully operational, the sanitary infrastructure of DoucheFLUX allows 50.000 showers on a yearly basis.

Co-written by underprivileged people, DoucheFLUX Magazine (current circulation of 4000) is sold in the Brussels' streets mainly by people who live under precarious conditions themselves. Purchased at 0,25€ they sell the magazine at 2€ according to a perfectly legal system. For many vendors, receipts from DoucheFLUX Magazine represent an important part of their total income. © Cyrus Pâques
