Synopsis

Father Charles Everett is an eminent theologian in quantum physics who was tasked by the Vatican with developing a quantum sphere. Capable of capturing virtual photons from void, this device could make it possible to catch sight of universe prior to big bang, before time and space even occurred. The Vatican thereby intends to prove the existence of God through scientific means and to revive a losing momentum cult.

In order to succeed, Charles had recourse to the work of Luka, a world famous astrophysicist but also a convinced atheist. When he decides to show him the sphere despite the absolute secret ordered by the Vatican, Charles causes the wrath of his superiors. An initiative that could well precipitate the events.

Why?

Quantum physics is frightening, it can even drive mad those who do not understand it. But it might also change our fundamental way of seeing things. And for a filmmaker, it offers exciting new narrative possibilities to stage.

The primary reason for this project, or this story, is to analyze the strong divisions between science and religion, and finally put forward the idea that they are perhaps closer than we think. The story of two men that everything oppose, two destinies that eventually join through quantum physics.

No complex formulas or dogmatic laws here. Science, and quantum physics in particular, encourages us to dream further to imagine other answers. Here is one of them ...

Visual Effects

Visual effects represent a technical challenge for a short film. In “Quantique” they must bring the breath and the excess inherent to such a project. That is why the number of plans will be reduced, but each one must be unforgettable.
