Charlie My Bear by Clement Jacques Vossen
€15,000
The largest bear in the world and the Arctics’ top predator, polar bears rely heavily on sea ice for traveling, hunting, resting, mating, … But because of ongoing and potential loss of their sea ice habitat resulting from climate change, polar bears are critically endangered.
Thanks to the generous support of Charliemybear, an initiative from the design company axis71/charliemybear, we are putting a beautiful design Polar Bear, powerful symbol of climate change, on sale, in support of our Somba Campaign.
This amazing piece was personalised by young belgian artist Clément Jacques Vossen.
Let’s act now, to preserve our beautiful planet and for future generations.
Thanks you so much for your generous support !
Some information about the artist :
Clément is a young Belgian artist born in 1996. He studied Art History and Archeology at the VUB and exhibits regularly in Brussels.
Charlie My Bear is a project started by axis71.
Clément took this opportunity to express himself and to give his vision of our society and the difficulties of our planet.
Chalrie My Bear is a testimony of a young artist about how he sees the world.
‘When you see the news on TV or read it in the newspapers, most of the time it’s about war, destruction or migration. ‘ This has a big impact on Clément’s work. He translates those images into Art History images.
‘It looks like history is constantly repeating itself, the more you know about the past, the better prepared you are for the future.’
Charlie my Bear is a symbol, a kind of ambassador, it’s a powerful image. It has the faculty to let people think about how they see the world and its future. This big tattoo on the body of the bear witnesses our present.
Grotesque figures of half-human, half-animal monsters are typical in the work of Clément, they form a parallel world between reality and imagination.
