Pagan Variations: Video Plasticienne

La performance artistique est un moyen d’expression basé sur le rythme, la durée, la liberté de disposer de son corps et le partage de cette liberté, que je compte mettre en lumière grâce à l'image vidéo, à travers une scénographie poétique et engagée. Je souhaite y exprimer que « performer » est un acte qui prend en compte le rythme et la violence de la vie, qu’il est de l’ordre de l’expérience et que la vidéo peut-être un médium intéressant pour capter les limites et les acmés de cet instant présent. Ce long-métrage sera un polyptyque visuel et sonore de cinq performances faisant partie de mon cycle intitulé « Post-Érotisme », orchestrées avec des interventions de plusieurs interprètes, amateurs ou professionnels de la performance artistique et du spectacle vivant (modèles, figurants, performeurs-ses, danseur-ses, circassiens et musiciens). Les cinq chapitres du long-métrage sont les suivants : Variation 1 : Les Souliers Rouges (Introduction du film, en cours de réalisation) Variation 2 : Priez pour nous (rebaptisé « Don’t pray for us » et déjà réalisé) Variation 3 : À cœur ouvert Variation 4 : Je tombe avec toi Variation 5 : Diaspora La narration du film se veut être un enchaînement de rituels qui ont pour but d’inviter à penser (et panser) des thèmes tels que l’Enfance, la religion, l’Amour, le Sacrifice, la Sexualité, et les frontières entre soi et les autres. Pourquoi ce projet ? Avec ce projet filmique, mon ambition est de vouloir réunir différents corps et célébrer la Chair à travers l’image vidéo, afin d’en saisir toutes les particularités, diversités et champs possibles d’expression, mais également réunir l’ensemble de mes performances dans un long-métrage. C’est en particulier l’image des corps minorisés par la norme qui m’intéresse: le corps féminin, le corps trans, le corps handicapé, le corps sexualisé, homosexualisé ou racisé... Réaliser un film performatif, où le hors-norme se met en scène, n’est qu’une manière de célébrer la puissance dionysiaque de la vie : sa beauté, sa folie, son chaos, sa véracité, ses limites. Entre l’héritage du body art et des pratiques rituelles, la danse, le théâtre et le cirque, la performance artistique reste complexe et difficilement définissable. À travers ce film, je souhaite faire de ce médium un témoignage possible parmi de multiples pratiques ancestrales ou contemporaines. <img alt="Capture_d_e_cran_2014-08-03_a__14.43.00-1421341548" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/152828/Capture_d_e_cran_2014-08-03_a__14.43.00-1421341548.png"> C’est une mise en image esthétique sur une prise de position politique, faisant du corps un espace scénique en soi où tout semble possible, s’il y a du désir. Une invitation au voyage en brisant les frontières qui délimitent le privé et le public, la pornographie et l’érotisme, l’inconscient et le conscient, le féminin et le masculin ou encore le rêve et la réalité. Les différents « tableaux » se feront dans des lieux spécifiques : théâtre, cave, crypte, forêt, appartement et château ; et les cinq chapitres qui composent le film, seront composés d’identités visuelles plurielles. De la cave, symbole primitif d’un regard sur son soi instinctuel, à la scène de théâtre où le corps se fait tableau vivant, on arrive au cabaret, où les fantasmes prennent forme puis à la forêt, au château, espace et architecture du conte pour finir dans un jardin où se mêleront fêtes païennes et esthétiques « queer ». Ce film constitue un tableau charnel où les protagonistes ne font rien d’autre que performer leur propre vie, manifester leur existence, sublimer la réalité. L’idée de mettre en scène des personnes qui ont choisi - ou non - de vivre en dehors des chemins tout tracés par l’éducation et la norme sociale, est une manière de lever un voile sur la réalité et imposer nos corps comme des monstranum, ces phénomènes de foire et d’exhibition, fiers d’appartenir à une communauté de Freaks, dont la richesse est portée par l’étrange et le bizarre, source d’appartenance à l’Extraordinaire. Mon désir ici, est de mettre en poésie cette beauté et cette intelligence hors-norme. À travers ce film je veux soulever certains tabous tout en invitant non pas à « ouvrir les yeux » mais plutôt à les fermer afin de plonger dans le monde tumultueux de notre inconscient, de nos rêves et de nos fantasmes. Je souhaite donner à voir l’expression corporelle comme un lieu de révolte et d’insoumission possible par tout un chacun. Calendrier Actuellement, l’une des variations du film a été réalisée et a déjà été projetée publiquement. Je compte finir le film pour fin 2015. L’objectif fixé permettra de soutenir les trois dernières parties du tournage et donc de réaliser la totalité du long-métrage. Pourquoi soutenir ce projet ? -Soutenir un projet artistique, dans un monde qui tend à discréditer les artistes et les collectifs, c’est faire vivre le poétique et le rêve, la culture et l’imaginatif, en dehors des institutions, qui défendent leur propre vision quant au choix de ce qui doit être représenté ou non, ce qui doit être financé ou non. - Parce que le corps est politique et que le dire ne suffit pas, l’art est une manière d’agir, de réagir ou de hurler ce qui nous semble essentiel et commun à tous. Ainsi participer à cette création est une manière aussi de propager le témoignage des corps minorisées. Soutenir ce projet c’est prendre position politiquement. -Parce que dans notre culture, l’inconscient n’est pas suffisamment pris au sérieux alors qu’il est la part de nous la plus « vraie » et la plus riche de notre cerveau, à travers les rêves, les traumatismes et la psychomagie (médecine alternative basée sur l’action performative). Parce que l’art est un dialogue direct avec cette part de nous - qui certes nécessite un dispositif concret qui demande un savoir faire, de la technique et des moyens financiers - et permet d’offrir une voie vers ce souterrain psychique, qui nous lie tous à une structure collective. <img alt="Praykisskiss-1421411552" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/153006/praykisskiss-1421411552.jpg"> Qui suis-je? Je m’appelle A.J Dirtystein, je suis née en 1984 et j’ai grandi en Guyane, puis en région parisienne. J’ai passé un baccalauréat Littéraire/Arts plastiques au lycée des Arènes à Toulouse, puis je suis rentrée à l’université du Mirail en 2004, pour y faire un master 2 recherche et création plastiques. Je commence à faire des performances et exposer mon travail en 2008-2009, dans des théâtres, galeries, universités et lieux privés. Je réalise - entre autres - « Accords Perdus », une performance mêlant opéra, danse, installations vidéo et rituels. À l’Université Bordeaux Montaigne, je choisi de faire une thèse à cheval entre arts plastiques et littérature. Dirigée par un professeur écrivain engagé dont j’admire le travail, Jean-Michel Devésa, je choisis d’étudier les écrits des femmes qui ont stimulé mon envie de faire de mon corps un outil d’expression. Je rentre, ainsi, dans une analyse de la performance artistique et politique, à travers l’expérience de ma propre chair. J’obtiens mon doctorat en 2014 et je réalise mon premier court-métrage sur la performance en même temps : « Don’t pray for us », diffusé à L’Utopia à Toulouse en Septembre 2014. Aujourd’hui, je mêle théorie et pratique, à travers création (peinture, photographie, performance et vidéo) et écriture sur la création. À quoi servira la collecte

Mon objectif est d’atteindre un financement de 3000€ Vos dons me permettront de réaliser ce film intégralement, c’est-à-dire les trois parties manquantes (Partie 3 : « À cœur ouvert », Partie 4 : « Je tombe avec toi » et Partie 5 : « Diaspora »). Je pourrai engager un-e maquilleuse et peut-être un-e coiffeur-se. Les tableaux vivants en seront enrichis, les scènes plus ambitieuses et l’univers général plus abouti. _________________ Troisième palier : 7500€ Enfin, si ce second palier est dépassé, le film pourra alors être encore plus abouti et je pourrais louer une pièce supplémentaire au tableau final. Ce dernier palier me permettra de louer un magnifique manège ancien pour la scène finale. Le prix (3500€) comprend la location, la livraison, la maintenance et l’hébergement des techniciens (deux nuits à l’hôtel et restauration). _____________________________________________________________________________________ [Translation] Detailed project Performance art is a means of expression based on the rhythm, duration, the freedom to dispose of its own body and the sharing of this freedom; I intend to highlight, with the video image, a poetic and engaged staging. I wish to express that "perform" is an act that reflects the speed and the violence of life. Video can be an interesting medium to capture limits and experience the climax of this moment. This film will be a visual and sound melting pot of five performances from a part of my cycle entitled "Post- Érotisme" with several interventions of performers, amateurs and professionals of performance art and live performance (models, performers, dancers and musicians, extras). The five chapters of the movie are : Variation 1: Les Souliers Rouges (The Red Shoes), Introduction of the film in construction Variation 2: Priez Pour Nous (renamed "Don’t pray for us" and completed) Variation 3: À cœur ouvert (Open heart) Variation 4: Je tombe avec toi (I fall with you) Variation 5: Diaspora The narrative of the film is various rituals that aim to invite to think several themes like Children, religion, Love, Sacrifice, Sexuality, and the boundaries between oneself and others. Why this project ? With this film project, my ambition is to celebrate together different body and the flesh around the video image, in order to understand all the peculiarities, differences and possible fields of expression but also collect all of my performances in a feature film. This is particularly the image of the body outvoted by the standard that interests me: the female body, transsexual body, the disabled body, the body sexualized or racialized... Making a film where the off-standard stages himself is only a way to celebrate a crazy vision power of life: its beauty, its madness, its chaos, its truth, its limits. Between the legacy of body art and ritual practices, dance, theatre and circus; performance art is complex to explain. Through this film, I would show the testimony of ancestral and contemporary practices. This is an aesthetic image put on a political position, making on body a scenic area where everything seems possible, if its desired. An invitation to travel, breaking the boundaries there is between the private and the public, pornography and eroticism, the unconscious and the conscious, the feminine and the masculine, the dream and reality. Different "tableau vivant" will be in specific places: theater, wine cellar, crypt, forest, apartment and castle; the five chapters of the film will be composed of different visual identities. From the primitive and instinctual symbol of a cellar, the theater stage where the body reveals itself, the cabaret where fantasies is taking shape, the forest and the castle where space and architecture suggest fairy tale and then the garden where pagan festivals and the “queer” vision will intermingle. This film is a carnal picture where the protagonists do nothing else to perform their own lives, manifest their existence and sublimate reality. The idea filming the people who have chosen - or not - to live outside the ways, like education or social norms, is a means of breaking down the veil over reality and imposed our bodies as monstranum; its phenomenon of fair and exhibition; proud to belong to a community of Freaks, whose strength is carried by the strange and the weird, universe of Extraordinary. My desire here is to poetry that unconventional beauty and intelligence. Through this film I want to break some taboos while invited not to "open the eyes" but to close them to plunge into the tumultuous world of our unconscious, our dreams and our fantasies. I want to give physical expression as a possible place of rebellion and insubordination for everyone. Calendar Currently, one of the film variations was completed and has been projected publicly. Entitled "Don’t pray for us", this video of twenty-three minutes was presented in September 2014 in different places (Utopia / Toulouse, UQAM / Montreal, Erotic Awards / London Cabaret Rouge / Nancy ...). Today, I started the shooting at the beginning of January and I will make a shoot per month until September. I want to finish the film to the end of 2015. The target will support the last three parts of the film, thus bringing the entire feature. Why support this project ? - support an art project, in a world that tends to discredit artists and collectives, is giving life to the poetic and dream, culture and imaginative, outside the institutions, which defend their own view to the choice of what needs to be represented or not, what should be funded or not. - Because the body is political (and that is not enough to say it), art is a way to act, react or screaming what seems essential and common to all. Because art is a direct dialogue with that part of us - which certainly requires a specific device, expertise, technical and financial resources - and can offer a psychic underground path to this, between us all within a collective structure. Who I am ? My name is AJ Dirtystein, I was born in 1984, I grew up in Guyana, and Paris. I have a Bachelor Literary / Visual Arts High School of the lycée des Arènes in Toulouse, and then I went to the University of le Mirail in 2004, to make a master 2 Research and plastic creation. I begin performance and exhibit my work in 2008-2009, in theaters, galleries, universities and private places. I realize - among others - "Accords Perdus", a performance combining opera, dance, ritual art installation and video. At the University Bordeaux Montaigne, I chose to do a thesis between visual arts and literature. Led by an engaged writer professor whose I admire the work, Jean-Michel Devésa, I choose to study the writings of women who stimulated my desire to make a tool of expression on my body. I am learning to get in depth in an analysis of artistic and political performance, through the experience of my own flesh. I get my Ph.D in 2014 and I did my first short film: "Don’t pray for us," aired at L’Utopia in Toulouse in September 2014. Today, I mix theory and practice, through creation (painting, photography, performance and video). I am currently working on editing my thesis and a post-doctoral project on sex workers, artists and writers. My team: Simon Dirtystein takes the images and deals all the logistics (driver, assembly, disassembly, craft ...). Jean-Noël Thierry takes images and also takes care of the lights. Baptiste NHK does the mounting and the post-production, he also takes images. Jean-François Daviaud helps us for the lights. Enzo Puxedu support logistics and sometimes assists me on filming. Sacha Bernardson is the musician, he composed the original soundtrack. Igorrr is also a musician, he agreed to participate in the soundtrack.
