The project is called Tall Order but my name is Charlie Couteau.
I'm a human being living in the South West of France.
Apart from doing the things that allow me to sustain my vital bodily functions, I've been playing music since I was 13.
One day, I decided that those wouldn't exist in two distinct categories anymore.
I look just like this but in 3D.
It was 2013 and I was living in Sydney, Australia at that time. It was sunny and hot there (or the other way around) and I felt freer than ever before. That's when I started composing music, crafting my identity with each note, chord and lyric and tim-tams also (they're delicious Australian chocolate thingies).
It always had been on my mind but I had never really given it a shot.
So I composed a first song that I recorded alone in my living room, with just my guitar and my smartphone. I called it "Summer is a lie", a song inspired by how Christmas feels on the Australian beaches.
I sent it to my friends and family a few days after Christmas, as a present.
I was super proud of it. The sound wasn't exactly flattering but it was my very first original song, the first one that I ever finished.
That's what mattered to me because it was like my first steps, like the first milestone.
Someday I'll finally be able to hold my music in my hands and maybe who knows, also put it in the ears of other sentient beings...
It's you I'm talking about, by the way. Can you focus a little? Seriously...
Then came another song, then another...
I was making progress thanks to the inspiration that I got from the Land of the Kangaroo and also spiders the size of your hand.
When I returned from Australia, Lorry Delatie, a long-time friend of mine offered to help me record my music in his home studio.
Lorry and I, making plans for Tall Order.
We started working on the project in July 2015 and that's when Tall Order was born.
If you're reading these words, you're probably still deciding if you're going to tag along on this project or not.
So without further ado, let's give it a listen, shall we?
You must've understood by now that Tall Order is not the result of my only efforts.
I can proudly say it's mine because they're my songs, with my words and music but it was only made possible thanks to all of those taking part in the project, giving me the help, support and encouragement I needed.
If it hadn't been for them, and for you, this whole thing might have remained a pipe dream.
Thanks to my creative and extremely competent friends, I was able to record several of my songs that I'd like to bring to you as a 5-track EP.
It will be available in digital, CD and vinyl formats, and you can even get ALL THREE AT ONCE ISN'T THAT SOMETHING?
Out of the 5 songs, 4 of them are in their final studio version and the fifth one is the live take of the song in the music video.
What video? Well this very one of course :)
This crowdfunding will help me finish producing the 5-track EP, considering it is already recorded.
What the €5000 will be spent on :
Mastering : €900
Pressing of the CD : €1200
Pressing of the vinyl : €1200
Reproduction rights (SDRM) : €600
Goodies : €200
Kiss Kiss Bank Bank charge : €400
Other expenses (postage, SACEM, barbecue...) : €500
What if we take it further? If we manage to collect more than €5000 then we'll be able to plan better, bigger things for Tall Order and for you guys :
If we reach €7500: we will shoot a second music video for one of the songs on the EP.
From 10000€ and upwards, I will be able to produce a full 12-track album.
You Kissbankers will have access to it at a cheaper price and you will receive an exclusive Tall Order t-shirt.
The funds collected will be transferred to Charlie Couteau's bank account at the end of the campaign if the €5000 goal is reached.
