When I started CAPOEIRA I didn't know it would project myself in this way. It is however the tale of these boys that trained in a terrasse in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro that made me stay and get to know deeper this art.
I heard a lot about a certain Mestre Peixinho. One day I met Mestre Peixinho, a little man with long hair and small glasses. This little guy blew me away by his presence, his knowledge, his way of being in life, his understanding of capoeira.
Mestre Peixinho died in 2011. Capoeira lost a great exponent of his art, his family lost a family member, his wife lost her husband and their daughter lost her father. One day I realized that not many of the students in the group know who he was or very little. I made this more than two hours documentary to present him to those who don't know him, to honor him, to keep him in our memories.
The DVD consists on 12 chapters, the introduction to the DVD tells in summary the history of the formation of this group of young men that have created a group has now 50 years old.
There are interviews with Mestres Toni Vargas, Ramos, Deco, Abutre, Feijão, Nénel (son of Mestre Bimba), Itapuan, Marrom, Malzibier, Arruda, Contramestre Renata and family members such as his mother D. Ignez, his wife and sister. With Archive Images from Itapuã Beiramar, Lionel Combecau, Mathias Monarque , and many photos from Mestre Itamar's archives.
