<p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Pour ceux qui ne me connaitraient pas encore, <strong>je suis contrebassiste, leader et compositeur</strong>. J&#39;ai grandi dans la banlieue ouest de Paris, et vis &agrave; Paris depuis maintenant 8 ans.&nbsp;Je suis surtout connu comme un sideman tr&egrave;s actif dans le monde du jazz (<strong>membre d&#39;une douzaine de groupes ; on peut m&#39;&eacute;couter sur une vingtaine&nbsp;d&#39;albums</strong>) mais c&#39;est &agrave; travers ma propre musique que je m&#39;&eacute;panouis le plus.</p> <p>For those who do not know me yet, I am a <strong>bassist, leader &amp; composer</strong>. I grew up in the Western suburb of Paris, and live in Paris, since 8 years now. Ces deux soir&eacute;es et cet album feront suite &agrave; mon premier album Elements, sorti en 2015 sur le fameux label Fresh Sound New Talent. J&#39;y ai gard&eacute; mon quartet de base, compos&eacute; de <strong>Ben van Gelder</strong> au saxophone alto, <strong>Tony Tixier</strong> au piano et <strong>Gautier Garrigue</strong> &agrave; la batterie. Viendra s&#39;y ajouter <strong>Camille Durand </strong>&agrave; la voix le 17.&nbsp;<strong>Enzo Carniel&nbsp;</strong>sera au piano le 17.</p> <p>So, thanks to the &laquo; <strong>Boutique du Val</strong> &raquo; in Meudon (suburban area of Paris) which offered me the opportunity of a Carte Blanche, I am glad &amp; very happy to announce <strong>the record of my second album</strong>,<strong> a live one</strong>, on November 17 and 18, 2018. These two nights and this album will follow my first album, named Elements (released in 2015), under the famous label Fresh Sound New Talent. I will play with this same quartet, composed with <strong>Ben van Gelder</strong> (alto saxophone), <strong>Tony Tixier</strong> (piano) and <strong>Gautier Garrigue</strong> (drums). <strong>Enzo Carniel</strong> (piano)&nbsp;and <strong>Camille Durand</strong> (vocals) will be our guests.</p> <p><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/549195/Ben-1539839013.jpg" width="100%" /></p> <p><strong>L&#39;EQUIPE</strong></p> <p>Cela fait maintenant plus de dix ann&eacute;es que je joue avec <strong>Tony Tixier</strong> et <strong>Gautier Garrigue</strong>. Nous avons jou&eacute;&nbsp;ensemble dans diff&eacute;rents groupes, notamment en trio, dans les groupes de Logan Richardson, de Scott Tixier, sous mon nom aussi. Au fil du temps nous avons tiss&eacute; des liens solides, une grande complicit&eacute;&nbsp;et un mode de communication musicale quasi t&eacute;l&eacute;pathique. Tous deux font partie de mes musiciens (et &ecirc;tres humains) pr&eacute;f&eacute;r&eacute;s sur cette plan&egrave;te.</p> <p><br /> It has been more than ten years since I played with <strong>Tony Tixier</strong> and <strong>Gautier Garrigue</strong>. We played together in different bands, including our trio, several Logan Richardson&#39;s bands, with Scott Tixier, and under my name as well. Over time, we have forged strong bonds between us, a great complicity and an almost telepathic way of communicating music. Both are part of my favorite musicians (and human beings) on this planet.</p> <p>J&#39;ai d&eacute;couvert <strong>Ben van Gelder </strong>sur MySpace, &agrave; la grande &eacute;poque du site, il y a environ 12 ans. Il postait sur son profil&nbsp;des enregistrements en <strong>trio saxophone alto, contrebasse et batterie</strong> qui m&#39;ont fascin&eacute;s et qui m&#39;ont surtout interloqu&eacute;s par leur force musicale et leur beaut&eacute;. A 16 ans, Ben &eacute;tait d&eacute;j&agrave; un musicien accompli, avec un vrai discours et&nbsp;une personnalit&eacute; imm&eacute;diatement identifiable. Etant un grand amateur de saxophone (alto en particulier) et un immense fan des musiciens de la cote ouest des Etats-Unis, p&eacute;riode cool, (Art Pepper, Lee Konitz, Stan Getz...) le son de Ben et son vocabulaire m&#39;ont tout de suite parl&eacute;. L&#39;id&eacute;e de collaborer avec Ben a &eacute;t&eacute; &agrave; l&#39;origine de l&#39;enregistrement de mon premier album Elements.</p> <p>I discovered <strong>Ben van Gelder</strong> on MySpace, at the big time of the website, around 12 years ago. He posted trio alto saxophone, bass &amp; drums recordings on his profile, which fascinated me and which&nbsp;took me aback by their music strength &amp; their beauty. At the age of 16, Ben was already an accomplished musician, with a true sound speech and an immediately recognizable personality. As a big fan of saxophone (and especially alto sax) &amp; a huge fan of &laquo; cool &raquo; period musicians from the West Coast of the United-States (Art Pepper, Lee Konitz, Stan Getz&hellip;), I felt in love with the sound of Ben &amp; his vocabulary. Nous avons collabor&eacute; dans de nombreux projets, notamment dans les groupes de Logan Richardson et&nbsp;Hermon Mehari ainsi que dans <strong>mon quintet</strong>. Enzo est un pianiste et musicien complet. Sa virtuosit&eacute;, son lyrisme et son inventivit&eacute; en font un musicien majeur de la sc&egrave;ne jazz fran&ccedil;aise. Je suis heureux&nbsp;et tr&egrave;s honor&eacute; de l&#39;accueillir dans mon projet.&nbsp;</p> <p>I know and play with <strong>Enzo Carniel</strong> since around five years. We collaborated in many projects, including&nbsp;the groups of Logan Richardson, Hermon Mehari and in my quintet. Enzo is and complete pianist and&nbsp;musician. His virtuosity, his lyricism and his inventiveness make him one of the major musicians on the French jazz scene. Elle a deux albums &agrave; son actif, notamment le disque de son grand ensemble, le <strong>Wanderlust Orchestra</strong> pour lequel elle compose, arrange et chante. Sa d&eacute;votion et l&#39;intensit&eacute; de sa musique font d&#39;elle une voix unique dans le jazz actuel. <strong>Camille sera mon invit&eacute;e le 17 novembre</strong>.</p> <p><strong>Camille Durand </strong>is a young singer, as well known as &lsquo;<strong>Ellinoa</strong>&rsquo;. She has already released two albums, especially her big band album, the &lsquo;Wanderlust Orchestra&rsquo;, in which she composes, arranges and sings. Her devotion and the intensity of her music make her a unique voice in the contemporary jazz. <strong>Camille will be my guest on the 17th of November</strong>.</p> <p><strong>Ils en parlent</strong> :</p> <p><strong>Will Vinson&nbsp;</strong>:&nbsp;</p> <p>&quot;Interviewer&nbsp;: Who are the alto players relatively new to the scene that you think we should all be checking out?</p> <p>Will Vinson : Well, I&rsquo;m relatively new, so you can check me out! Seriously, though, it&rsquo;s a very daunting thing to play an instrument so closely and specifically identified with the history and development of modern jazz. The guys I like are the ones who can&rsquo;t easily be mistaken for anyone else. Chacun ram&egrave;nera des compositions personnelles et j&#39;am&egrave;nerai de mon cot&eacute; des compositions ainsi que des propositions de reprises in&eacute;dites. <strong>John&nbsp;</strong><strong>Coltrane, Bj&ouml;rk, Duke Ellington et le Great American Songbook seront &agrave; l&#39;honneur.&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><br /> My intention with this live recording is not to make a composer&#39;s album. I compiled the r&eacute;pertoire of these evenings to favorise the &quot;playing&quot;, all together and with pleasure. Each musician will bring back personal compositions, and I will bring, for my part, compositions as well as proposals of unpublished covers. <strong>John Coltrane, Bj&ouml;rk, Duke Ellington &amp; the Great American Songbook will be in the spotlight</strong>.</p> <p><strong>LE LIEU</strong></p> <p><strong>La Boutique du Val</strong> est un petit club ultra chaleureux et convivial, situ&eacute; &agrave; <strong>Meudon</strong> dans les Hauts-de-Seine. Cr&eacute;&eacute; initialement par <strong>Jean-R&eacute;my Gu&eacute;don</strong>, aujourd&#39;hui g&eacute;r&eacute;&nbsp;par le <strong>collectif Archimusic</strong>, il accueille des projets in&eacute;dits et originaux, m&ecirc;lants musique, cin&eacute;ma, cuisine... Sa capacit&eacute; r&eacute;duite d&#39;accueil (environ 30 places) en fait&nbsp;un espace d&#39;&eacute;coute privil&eacute;gi&eacute;.&nbsp;</p> <p>The &lsquo;<strong>Boutique du Val</strong>&rsquo; is an ultra chaleureux and convivial small club, located in Meudon (in the Hauts-de-Seine). Originally created by <strong>Jean-R&eacute;my Gu&eacute;don</strong>, nowadays it is the &lsquo;<strong>Archimusic</strong> collective&rsquo; which is in charge of the place. It welcomes exclusive &amp; orignals projects, confounding music, cinema, cuisine...
