My name is Vilija, and I’m a artist – painter, photographer and body artist with a background in fine art . Recently I've teamed up with a group of talented artists from Lithuania, Sweden and USA and production crew to create a new project called OTHER SPECIES. We are stoked to share this with you!!

ABOUT THE FILM and PHOTOGRAPHY :

OTHER SPECIES is a few parts psychedelic, fantasy short film and photographs about otherworldly spiritual beings and them travel. Filled with MUSIC- FUSEDMARC an experimental fusion of alternative music, rock , electronica, trip hop and ambient elaborate, ART- body art, costumes, decorations, visual effects and uniq environment in ICELAND , the film is a non-narrative purely visual/audio experience designed to transport viewers through a hypnotic, dream-like experience. It consists of a few parts, each featuring visually fantastic characters and creatures that converge with each other in different world places. The film concludes by featuring segments combine into a colorful, psychedelic, emotional finale.

INSPIRATION & CONCEPT:

“OTHER SPECIES” is meant to be a purely visual film built around the idea of spiritualism, beautiful unison between living things and them travel. Characters in this film and photographs are constantly merging into one another, forming a collective consciousness , of their minds and bodies. My goal is to create a film that is colorful, playful and magical in its materials with an emotional music traveling, body art, costumes and uniq envinronment in Iceland.

Icelandic artist like Bjork, Sigur´ros, Solstafir films and videos are huge inspiration for me in their use of physical props and creatures. I want to bring this fantasy, vision in to a real world, show the beauty of spirit, nature, otherness and bring it all to the surface.

THE PRODUCTION:

To kick off this film I’m banding together with 10 extremely talented artists, filmmakers,actors, models and musitions to flesh out this world. Creating the various body art, costumes, decoration, music with a month of preproduction and building. The shoot itself will require about 10 days and more in Iceland, Sweden photo studios . We plan to shoot this project on the canon, nikon digital sistem cameras. The post-production phase will involve 1 month and couple of weeks of compositing and generating effects , working with montage etc . Vilija the director will perform the majority of the body art, photography, montage, idea, filmmaking herself in post-production. The estimated duration of the first film part film will be 6 minutes.

THE GOAL :

“OTHER SPECIES” is meant to be a hypnotic, magical experience for dreamers, wievers. This film is designed to straddle the line between ART VIDEO and film for exhibitions, FILM festivals, MUSIC CONCERTS art galleries, art shows and workshops. Once the film is finished, we will enter the film through the exhibitions in EU. Once the film has made it will make its way to galleries and be uploaded for online viewing.
