Returnable bottles are back in the market thanks to Jean Bouteille. Help up bring it close to you !

The project

J’embouteille in French means to refill a bottle by yourself.

The way our society focuses on consumption today leads us to a dead end: too much waste is produced.

To reverse this trend, Jean Bouteille was born. Its goal is to allow us to consume without wasting. Yes, it is finally possible!

To accomplish this, the innovative firm brings back the returnable bottle system and marries it to bulk sale.

How does it work?

In Jean Bouteille’s world you are the Jean Bouteille. You fill a Jean Bouteille bottle of wine, oil or vinegar of the quantity you need; thanks to a self-service bottling machine installed in a shop. The bottle is returnable. So, when it's empty, you bring the used bottle back to the shop and take a clean new one as a J’embouteille.

Find an exemple below:

Where can you find us?

Today, three shops are equipped with our solution:

- Two Biocoop (Organic Produce Store) in Villeneuve d’Ascq and Hazebrouck (Northern France)

- Almata (Zero Waste shop) in Brussels, Belgium

With an innovative approach of short circuit sale, the economic model allows to offer high quality product; cheaper with a very low environmental footprint while increasing the purchasing power of the consumer at the same time.

The keywords of the concept are: frugal innovation (make more with less), circular economy (packaging reuse), service economy (sell the usage of an object instead of the object itself).

Did you know that for one returnable glass bottle bought you save up to 20 single use bottles? My current goal is to reach 200 000 bottles sold which means 4 million bottles saved a year!

Thanks to this system, we can save up to 500,000 tons of packaging waste.  (Source: Returnable drinking packaging study made by the ADEME)

Why fund it?

The returnable bottle system includes the incorporation of a washing unit situated within a radius 50km from the shops.

We need your support; to help us develop this network of washing units all around France and Europe because sustainability comes with volume and availability. Of course - we want to be close to you.

We are firm believers in Social Responsibility. The washers are installed in Professional Centers for the Disabled. This way we offer physically challenged individuals an opportunity to get a steady job and financial independence. Today, the washer for the Lille region is installed at the Papillons Blancs Center in Lomme, Northern France.

Here is our washing unit in Northern France:

A washing unit costs approximately 50K € which includes:

- A bottle washer

- A heating chamber

- A set of Jean Bouteille bottles and plastic crates

- A mid-size truck to manage bottle logistics

- Create and fund at least two jobs; Regional Jean Bouteille Manager and Cleaning Agents

Your donation will help to finance 10% of a regional unit. For each 5K€ generated today, we promise to install a new washing unit for a new region and will follow this rule if the full collect is raised.

Of course if the capital is raised from your neighborhood, we will target to install washing units close to you.

The Jean Bouteille project is ambitous, innovative and targets the current human trend of over-consumption. We waste more than we should and I believe that everyone of us has a responsibility towards our planet and the future of our children.
