From the 10th to the 13th of July, 2015, 100 young European saxophonists will be united in Strasbourg to perform together. Three great composers, Franck Tortiller, Mark Phillips and Tomas Gubitsch, are writing pieces to be premiered by the 100 Sax! They will also have the privilege to perform with the world’s biggest saxophone soloists, including Branford Marsalis, Céline Bonacina, The Emphasis Quartet, and Christophe Monniot.
During their stay in Strasbourg, they will have the chance to attend many concerts, workshops, recitals, and a performance by the France Republican Guard Concert Band.
The 100 Sax will perform in the Alsace village of Geispolsheim on the 11th of July, 2015, and at the Strasbourg Cité de la Musique et de la Danse on the 12th of July, 2015 for a unique concert.
SaxOpen is the 17th World Saxophone Congress and Festival, held in Strasbourg from the 9th to the 14th of July, 2015. Since 1969, this event has been held every three years in a different city around the world. The honorary presidents of SaxOpen are Branford Marsalis (saxophonist of Sting and jazz great) and Jean-Marie Londeix (creator and president of the A.SAX association and French classical and contemporary great). SaxOpen will bring together over 2,000 delegates to offer more than 300 events and projects created especially for the occasion.

This project is being coordinated by Nicolas Prost, international soloist and professor at the Conservatoire de Saint Maur in Paris.
100 Sax will be conducted by the Australian saxophonist and conductor Joseph Lallo.
For the first time, the World Saxophone Congress will have two days dedication to youth and education. Thanks to your generous donations, the 100 Sax project will be a major feature of the congress, celebrating young saxophonists and musicians.
In helping us to support the arrival and accommodation of 100 young saxophonists to SaxOpen, you offer them an unforgettable gift: to perform together in a unique concert in Strasbourg with internationally renowned musicians, attend a concert of the France Republican Guard Concert Band, and to participate in the World Saxophone Congress, and event that has not been held in France since 1974.
