Son enfance en Afrique Noire, ses nombreux voyages développent sa propension à vagabonder, à déceler en musardant. – «Ne demande jamais ton chemin à quelqu’un qui le connaît, tu risquerais de ne pas pouvoir te perdre». Des musées qu’il fréquente, des maîtres qui l’inspirent il apprend essentiellement à désapprendre. Ses multiples pérégrinations ont soulevé chez lui de nombreuses interrogations quant à l’homme et à sa destinée. Ses sculptures sont ses réponses à ses questions. Il les a créées pour qu’elles dialoguent librement avec le regardeur. «J’ai allumé une lumière, et si elle vous attire, à vous de vous y cogner sans cesse et sans cesse, comme ces papillons de nuit. De toutes façons, au petit matin vous mourrez. Sans avoir rien compris. Parce qu’il n’y a rien à comprendre».
