Hi! I'm a film director / cinematographer from France, currently living in Seoul, South Korea. After spending a year here, I was shocked to learn that so many people committed suicide every year and in such a horrible way. In fact, around 40 persons commit suicide everyday in the country, most of them will jump off <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/south-korean-mans-suicidal-jump-kills-5-year-old-2013-5" target="_blank">high rise buildings</a> or a <a href="http://english.sina.com/world/2013/0728/613016.html" target="_blank">bridge</a> into icy water. One must wonder why so many people turn to this end. However, my concern and the reason I am doing this short film is to ask why in the twenty-first century, humans are still not able to end their life in a more dignified way. The question of assisted suicide is a difficult one but to many people it is a way to die peacefully and not to make a mess of themselves. But since it is still illegal in most countries, those that wish to go through that process often endanger the life of others (for instance with the prospect of jail or huge fines for doctors). But in some cases, they can also run into people that will take advantage of them in their final moments. As such, my film will deal with a fictional scenario that will follow the last day of a man choosing to end his life with euthanasia. Unbeknownst to the character's knowledge, the people that run the place he booked take advantage of the illegality of the situation to crook and mistreat suicidal people. Two months ago, we went scouting in the North-Eastern part of South Korea and found this little fishing village called Hwacheon and it was perfect for our story so we came back last week-end and shot the film in two days! Allocation of funds

My goal is to sensibilise people on the question of assisted suicide and hopefully push towards legalisation or at least to relaunch the debate. It is my belief that terminally ill people should have the right to die in a dignified way (terminally ill patients in Korea have the right to seek euthanasia) but I also believe this right should be extended for anyone suffering from non physical hindrances such as clinical depression, where it is clear they will never be able to get better. I need your help to finish this film. We were able to shoot with a very small team and a small amount of 650 euros. However much more awaits in the post-production of the film, especially in order to hire the services of a composer to tell the story with music and later on to send the film to many festivals. If you are curious about what the amount of 750 euros would help me achieve, I invite you to read below. If I reach the goal of my campaign, I will be able to cover the fees generated by the shoot which would help me save for my next projects. Here below is the budget of the production: - Compensate the main (and only) actor for his work (150 euros) - Rent the shooting location where we will stay overnight. (150 euros) - Rent a car to transport us to the location (150 euros) - Rent professional camera equipment (200 euros) - Pay for gas and food for the shoot (100 euros) If the campaign goes above its predicted goal, you will be helping me to get a composer for the film and later send it to festivals. Basically it costs 1 to 2 euros just to send it to each festival and in many cases the festivals themselves have a fee, usually around 10-15 euros. My last short is a 19th century adaptation of French Writer Maupassant, that follows the story of an aristocrat that thinks his mansion is haunted. The film is currently selected in 33 festivals around the world!
