MODERAPHIA bags are handcrafted, designed and fabricated in small series. We use only natural materials, mainly raffia, in accordance with fair trade and sustainable development.</p>

Raffia is beautiful, strong, supple. Endemic Natural resource ensuring the Malagasy people subsistence, it is also an ecological material: the trees does not die following the extraction of the workable fibre.</p>

<p>
Real fair trade shares in an equitable balance the benefits of the use of resources through all the chain of design, craft and supply. </p>
<p>

<p>
Real sustainable development allows local people, real owner of local resources and know-how to prosper in their natural and original environment thanks to a labour fostering their accession to Dignity and Autonomy. </p>

<p>
Ethics and Balance: our products are all ours, we only sell and promote our creations. Workers in the workshop are fully part of the decision makers: whether for the wages, the working hours, the product prices and even the menu of the week. </p>

<strong> </strong> The company has been created in September 2015 with our own savings. In 2016, 2/3 of the manufactured items have been sold. Our work is unanimously approved by the customers. </p>

<strong>THE WORKSHOP: </strong></p>
<p>
</p>
<p>
<strong> </strong> The workshop is situated in Antananarivo (Madagascar) whereas MODERAPHIA bags are sold worldwide.</p>
<p>
</p>
<p>
The workshop is a training center, a workplace but also a living place where each and every employee is fed, and where some find shelter. </p>
<p>
Operating costs are high: the workers’ number had to be reduced. In a country where 92% of the population already live below the poverty line. </p>
<p>
</p>

Arrived in France, a MODERAPHIA bag will have costed: </p>

- 30% of materials (raffia, leather, lining and accessories)</p>
<p>
- 50% of labour </p>
<p>
- 20% of conveying </p>
<p>
</p>

</p>
<p>
5000 euros will be useful for recruiting and training new workers and to extend the workshop.</p>
<p>
</p>
<p>
We dream of a pick-and-place machine to work the leather. </p>
<p>
</p>
<p>
We also need to finance the production of this year’s planned exhibitions.</p>
<p>
</p>
<p>
If we exceed the objective, we will also be able to pay the costs of the exhibitions: ID D’ART (April 2017), UNICREA (May 2017), MAISON & OBJETS (September 2017).</p>
