Cantar para el planeta

Help Patrick and Los Hijos de Gaia to take another step in their project aimed at enhancing environmental consciousness in colleges and cultural sites of Cali.

We are planning to organize an Ecological Song Festival in Cali and to implement a cycle of musical lectures in colleges, universities and cultural sites in the Cali region of Colombia, where we live.

These lectures explain why and how the human species is so destructive and proposes a different way of thinking and practical actions to reverse the current trend that threatens us in the very short term. They combine a classical part based on solid scientific knowledge with songs of our composition that illustrate the themes, lfor example, deforestation in Amazonia and its ecological and human consequences, waste recycling, earthworm lives, globalization and peace.

The songs are performed live with a group of professional musicians from Cali that I have organized: Los Hijos de Gaia (children of the earth).

In 2017 and early 2018, a first series of 7 conferences was presented to associations of agro ecologists, to biologists in two scientific congresses, in a theater and in a cultural center of the city of Cali and also two AMAP of the Paris region.

The project has been widely commented by the local press: " Patrick Lavelle, the Frenchman who sings for peace in Colombia " and by the actress journalist Julie Depardieu in her column on France Musique.

This project aims to give a larger audience to our presentation with two main objectives:

Objective 1 : The organization of a festival of ecological music in Cali, on September 1, 2018, with the participation already aproved of five groups and the provision to us for the event of Open Air Theater Los Cristales, a large enclosure of a thousand spectators:

Campo y Sabor, a group of farmers and musicians from the Valle del Cauca who sing organic agriculture and good local products, with different rhythms of Colombian music;

Trio Pedaluz, who develops themes comparable to Andean music.

Cantarana, group of the association Agriecologicos which also interprets themes of Colombian Andean music that deal with nature.

Mr Klaje interpretes songs that treat social themes like peace, corridas or justice

Los Hijos de Gaia, our group that uses the pop walk, the bossa Nova or the blues to talk about more generic themes: globalization, deforestation, recycling and pollution.

Other groups could possibly be added by the date of the concert.

Objective 2 : Present a series of music conferences at 10 colleges in the region for youth ages 12 to 16.

Ten colleges of Cali have been contacted and they are interested to get the conference for their students.
