Cercle Magazine, the feature review is 10 years old!

After ten years of topics dealt with as interviews and pictures, Cercle Magazine celebrates its tenth anniversary this year with a special edition dedicated to the subject of Parades. The tenth edition evolves in its layout and content, with always its curious and demanding outlook: committed, festive and exuberant, the Parade theme will be tackled in many ways. Interviews, a selection of artists in the portfolio pages, and also various sections will give the floor to numerous contributors from the world over. 📷 The contents of this tenth edition: Four interviews: Lasseindra Ninja, professional queer dancer and emblematic figure of voguing in France. Yves Pourcher, professor of political science and author of the book Politique Parade. Charlotte Perrot, ecologist researcher, author of a thesis on the ritual dances of flamingos. Arthur Hardy, specialist of New-Orleans carnival, author of the Mardi Gras Guide since 1976. 📷 A portfolio and interviews with artists: Andy Dixon (USA), Aurélie Garnier (France), Younsik Woo (South Korea), Agnese Morganti (Italy), Emily Stein (United Kingdom), Christophe Urbain (France), Lucia Buricelli (Italy), Stefania Tejada (Colombia)... Varied sections: Hit parade by Émilie Fernandez (music), the interview with JJ Tachdjian by Christelle Dion (graphic design), Masquespacio interior design by Matthew Burgos (architecture), a history of make-up by Louise Cronenberger (fashion), the street and a history of parades by Luc Voelkel (urban planning), a reflection on banquets by Sonia Verguet (food), the film selection by Léo Puel (film), a study of the links between parade and contemporary art by Marie Heyd (history of art). 📷 For each edition of Cercle, a typefont is especially created by a typographer: this year, it’s Thierry Fétiveaux, founder of the Bouclard publication, who ensures the design of the well-named Parade font. 📷 This special edition will take on a new dimension compared to the previous ones: 276 pages of content in French and English, with a two Pantone and matte lamination cover, with a combination of matte and glossy bulk paper inside. Cercle Magazine in a few words Cercle is an independent thematic magazine published once a year. Every year, a new edition. Every edition, a new theme. Cercle attempts to gather information about the topic and suggests a support that highlights contemporary artistic creation, culture and science. At the origins of the project, there is the curiosity and conviction that everything is interesting if you grant it the time. This time is that of research, selection, printing and publishing. Cercle Magazine centres on the idea of bringing together the professional, literary, visual, scientific and artistic aspects of a theme in one edition. Cercle is distributed in France and abroad thanks to its two distributors, KD Presse Paris and Antenne Books London. 📷 Who is Cercle? Created by Marlène Astrié, Marie Secher and Maxime Pintadu, Cercle Magazine is annually published by Association Cercle that was founded in 2013 and based in Strasbourg. Louise Cronenberger joined them a few months ago. We four are voluntarily committed to this review. Alongside this, we are art directors and graphic designers within the Cercle Studio created in 2014. Cercle is also a network of volunteers and employees, without which the review couldn’t exist: writers, photographers, translator, printers, distributors, advisors, and support in many ways! Support independent publishing! Cercle supports artistic creation, through its publication, but also during launches via the organisation of events combining exhibitions, meetings, mixes, performances, tastings… All of this is possible thanks to the investment of many contributors and an overly-motivated team! Cercle is ten years of varied, curious and unexpected content, abundant in exhilarating encounters.The magazine gives the floor and word to many passionate amateurs and professionals adding their singular outlook on many themes. We have chosen to use the platform Kiss Kiss Bank Bank for presales this year, as such we can have a realistic view on how many copies to print, and thus avoid wasting any.
