Let the kids discover the magic of classical music through Contretemps. A performance by an actor with mesmerising visual projections, creating an inspiring piece of art that will enhance children's imagination. Dive deep into the childhood dreams, adventurous journeys, and discover love.
At the heart of this show, the renowned pianist Vanessa Wagner, guides the kids into discovering the masters of classical music such as Debussy, Schumann and Liszt.
This project was born from the association of 4 international MBA students at IESA (Institut d’Etudes Supérieures des Arts) in Paris. Each team member has a different cultural background, although we all share one thing in common: our love and passion for music.

THE BIRTH OF THE PROJECT
While we attended several classical music performances, it came to our attention that very few young people were attracted by this kind of concerts. The formality and rigidity of the concert practices appeared to us as one of the biggest barrier to first-timers.
It’s with the ambition to overcome this barrier that our concept emerged; a new way of experiencing classical music concerts for kids, by combining visual arts and music.
Through this tailored performance, we hope to interact with young audience, and stimulate their curiosity and enthusiasm for music.
Contretemps is a new classical music concert concept, rethinking the room that classical music plays into kids’ lives. It consists of an original and interactive approach combining visual arts and music. The aim is to break the codes and stereotypes often attributed to classical music performances.
Through this entertaining experience, we wish to use this opportunity to democratize the access to classical music while contributing to the renewal of its public. We want to prove that classical music can be appreciated at any age.
Vanessa WAGNER - A the heart of the show, an internationally renowned pianist with the ambition to share her art with the young ones.
Guided by her natural curiosity the pianist Vanessa Wagner likes to travel through the vast repertoire of her instrument, from works written for the fortepiano (which she plays) to compositions of our own time, notably those of Pascal Dusapin and François Meimoun, who have dedicated several pieces to her.
Praised for her curiosity and electicism, she is much celebrated for her musical colors, the quality of her playing and her sensitive touch. With her sensitive and intelligent playing, her discreet personality and her eclectic and committed artistic choices she is a remarkable musician.
In 1999 she received a “Victoire de la Musique“ (French equivalent of the Grammy Awards) as the most promising young instrumental soloist. Since then she has appeared all over the world, and played with the Orchestre Nationale France, the Orchestre National de Lille, The Munich Philharmonics, Osaka Philharmonic Orchestras and many more.
In order to prepare the children to this new experience, a time will be dedicated for a workshop with the french startup Sonic Solveig, specialised in the digital edition of interactive musical content.
The aim is introduce the children to classical music through:
· The discovery of instruments' timbres
· The understanding of the structure of a piece: what is the melody, the harmony, the bass line..?
· The discovery of the sense of rhythm
· Sharing the listening experience through words
· The contextualisation of a piece
THE CONCERT ROOM
The concert will take place on Tuesday 13th of June at the studio Le Regard Du Cygne, located in the 20th arrondissement of Paris.
