Construction de maisons individuelles dans un village au Nicaragua

HILAP: l'Humanitaire Ici Là-Bas c'est Aider et Partager (Humanitarianism Here and elsewhere is Assist and Share) (http://www.hilap.org) is the humanitarian organization of the ESTP, an engineering school located in Cachan. Each year many students go in the poorest regions of the world to help local people.

It’s been tree years that ESTP student help the people of Nicaragua through a partnership between two associations: HILAP and Esteli solidarity.

Nicaragua is the second poorest country in Latin America. Almost half of its inhabitants live below the poverty line. Hit by Hurricane Mitch in 1998 most families were relocated in slums. It’s to help this population that ESTP student go each year to Nicaragua.

For ten weeks, two groups of twelve people take turns. The site will be divided into two sessions of five weeks during which we will build 8 decent houses helped by nicaraguan builders. These houses are for families living in slums near the village of Esteli.

The 2014 project was a success, both for the completion of the building and the human links and exchanges between the local population and "Hilapiens". This is why we take the baton this year for this ongoing trial .

In addition to material support that allows them to take a proper life, we will give them moral support by our presence, witness of the attention we pay to them.

Here are some pictures of the achievements of 2014:

Allocation of funds

The collection will obviously be used to complete the project. It will allow our team to go to Nicaragua, to start work but also to buy the necessary building materials to our project.

Our local presence will allow us, in addition to our primary mission, to assess local needs and thus potentially up a new project for the next year. Indeed, this is the way HILAP continues its work each year in several countries, and offers valuable help to many people in need.

We will be staying in Nicaraguan host family near the construction site. The families who host us have financial difficulties and receive financial compensation that helps them.

This mission in Haiti will also bring us a lot as a volunteer. This will indeed be a cultural and human experience very rewarding and formative through the sharing of daily life with the poorest populations of the planet. Any further aid to 700 euros will be used to buy additional equipment on site, or will helped the future project of the association.
