Dharma Imagery Project
Dharma Imagery Project
My name is Tokpa Korlo and I am an American photographer, filmmaker and musician. My work is a continuing effort to bring the Dharma to this world through photography, video and music, and with it the naturally blossoming passionate expression of depth, color and light. My sincere wish is that I can continue to offer my art to the world.
PLEASE NOTE: All of my photos, videos, music and fundraising activities are completely independent of Karmapa and his Private Office, and Lama Ole and Diamond Way Buddhism International.Following the advice of Shamar Rinpoche, I left the USA in search of finding my life’s purpose and meaning in the world of Dharma. When he passed away, I was requested to follow his body from Germany to Kathmandu where he was to be cremated, a journey of seven weeks that was to change my life forever. Now I am Dharma volunteer, and for the past six years I have been traveling the world documenting the activity and lives of some of the world’s most prominent Buddhist masters. I have always been independent, speaking freely from my own feelings and experiences, and in the process, I discovered my true voice, my calling, and my purpose. My work is a labor of love. I believe that the work I do should be available to everyone. I have shared and given my work to magazines, centers, individuals and organizations in the hope that they may benefit from it or simply enjoy it. While I do not enjoy asking for help, I have learned over the years that many people cherish the opportunity to take part in what I do. I am a working professional who has decided to use his life in the support of Dharma, and I rely on supporters, sponsors, and generous patrons to keep this work going. I count myself extraordinarily fortunate to be able to define my life in this way. Your support of my project directly funds and makes possible the continuation of my work, my dream, and the fulfillment of my life’s purpose.
Waar dient de collecte voor
With your help, we can fulfill my dream.
While I have several extremely generous sponsors that provide for my livelihood, sometimes I need to make a large purchase and in these times I call out for support. I need to purchase a new camera, for both the continuation of my studio work and my worldwide photos and documentary films. This camera will enable me to shoot extremely high-quality photos and beautiful cinematic video, all in a single camera setup. I have already invested in the new lenses—the purchase of the new camera body is the final step. It will complete the perfect one-man machine, ready for anything. Our teachers deserve to be presented in the best way possible, and following them to the ends of the earth takes a serious toll on my equipment. Investing in a robust, powerful and flexible system is a crucial step for me, and for my work for the foreseeable future.
Jigme Rinpoche has requested me to make one final feature-length film about Shamar Rinpoche and his Kudung Journey, and I plan on releasing it in early 2020. The film will include brand new interviews with Karmapa, Jigme Rinpoche, Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche and many others. It’s my wish that this film be released worldwide, so that everyone can experience the amazing journey that marked the end of Rinpoche's physical presence in this world. The film is almost finished, but I need a small budget for travel to complete one final interview and to finish the post-production. With your help I can accomplish all of this, and release the final Kudung film on time. This project is an opportunity to make a magnificent final homage to my teacher Shamar Rinpoche—this is a huge honor for me.
Your donations will be used as follows:
- Camera - 10,000
- Remaining Film Costs - 3000
Help me to continue my work to offer my photos and films of our precious lineage teachers to the world.
