What is Francine?

Francine is the name of a French fanzine (a contraction of the words ‘fanatic’ and ‘magazine’), a free and independent publication which highlights many different kind of artistic expression (illustration, graphic design, writing…).

Based in Alençon, Francine has been created by some 21 to 24 year-old friends, united by the willing of leading a cool, offbeat and graphic design project. Since November 2014, they have been devoted to the creation, publication and distribution of the Francines at local cultural events.

Francine is now ready to discover the world and wants to get out from her native Normandy and open up new horizons.

Francine is made by graphic designers, illustrators, writers, journalists, and project managers - and it’s Adeline and Alice who will be in charge of making you dream!

Adeline and Alice, now haircut and musical tastes twins (we know that you can't see that on the photograph), met in 2012, at the back to school of their third year of graphic design and publishing studies, in Chaumont. They quickly came to work together, indeed, they totally devoted to the creation of an iPad app dedicated to the University of Reims Champagne-Ardennes.

They are in fond of pictures, paper, music, and absurd humor, and that's why they are plenty part of the Francine le Fanzine creation.They both work as freelance graphic designers, but spend the most of their spare time to get drunk with music, but not only…

To help you to dissociate them: Alice loves screen-printing, wheareas Adeline rathers food. The Dour Festival and Francine mean to them to be the best opportunity to gather all theirs passions in an one and only project.

THE (SUPER) PROJECT

This summer, Francine will be at Dour ! More again, Francine will be a Dour Festival’s official partner !

On this occasion, we are going to work on a special Dour Festival edition of Francine le Fanzine.

On the syllabus : photographs, illustrations, artists interviews, meeting stories, hidden treasures, art and laughter.

Our mission is to capture the essence of those five magical days and to come up with a beautiful fanzine, full of memories that you will be happy to find back.

In order to do this, Adeline and Alice of the Francine team will become live-reporters and roam through the Dour Festival on the lookout for great human and artistic moments. Those two graphic designers and illustrators are going to make sure this special Francine edition will be lively and creative to offer you a cheerful, offbeat and original fanzine.

We plan to release this edition around 10 days after the end of the festival, that’s to say for the 1st of August.
