Our project

Klima is a print magazine dedicated to contemporary creation and academic research. It aims to democratize the academic world through a conversation with the world of contemporary artistic creation.

Klima gives a voice to creative, singular and conscious individuals, by relating art, activism and academia.

Klima is a bi-annual magazine for curious and informed readers. Each issue is based on an article extracted from a PhD. We want to gather in a same space different fields from the contemporary scene, insisting on the transdisciplinarity. Interviews, encounters and artistic & literary projects are proposed in relation to the main article. These articles interpret the inherent problematics within the PhD article.

Aware of the political emergency of our time, Klima wants to demonstrate the mood and feelings of today, by questioning new forms of contestation and utopia, and by taking art and research as spaces of deliberation of the contemporary itself.

Klima publishes subjects related to contemporary art, art history, art critic, sociology, anthropology, cultural studies, gender studies, postcolonial studies, etc.

The first issue

The first issue focuses on the political and ideological problematics arising from the realm of science fiction.

It focuses on relations between imaginary spaces and emancipation, on the omnipresence of technology in our society, and on the idea of an ecological catastrophe. This first issue questions different systems of power through the prism of imagination. Reflections around utopias, dystopias, afrofuturism, gothic futurism and the figure of the cyborg are presented.

Contributors

Nicolas Ballet
Julie Boukobza
Dora Budor
Alice Carabédian
Jean-Luc André D’Asciano
Caterina De Nicola
Noémie Degen
Gabriele Garavaglia
Mathis Gasser
Antoine Goldet
Donna Haraway
Kimberley Harthoorn
Monika Kazi
Kapwani Kiwanga
Quentin Lacombe
Gregoria Lagourgue
Tarek Lakhrissi
Marvin Leuvrey
Emma Panchot
Susanne Pfeffer
Rammellzee
Anna Solal
Together!
Mawena Yehouessi

The Team

Founder

Antonine Scali-Ringwald

After working in Latin America in various galleries, she continued her research on contemporary Latin American art at the Sorbonne in Paris, from which she graduated from a master’s degree in art history.
