LA PuffCover - Housse gonflable pour guitares et basses électriques !

The idea of the puffcover was born from a simple observation: How to protect and carry his electric guitar or electric bass without suffering the weight of the "classic's" covers and even have a greater degree of protection.

The first thoughts were conducted with Alex as unusual inflatable object specialist and Benjamin as designer.

From idea to design ...

Simple ideas are often complicated to implement.

The only technique wich allow to blow up the PVC is HF (High Frequencies) welding which guarantee a complete seal of the welded object.

However PVC is a particular material to handle, the blown air causes all sorts of stresses, deformation, that must be managed at the base of the reflection.

Welded PVC Square soon becomes a round when inflated. So we began a long process of calculation, testing, through the production of a variety of prototypes that have enabled us to refine the shape, to find solutions to the various constraints, calculate, recalculate the odds rays, those straight or round parts, and we're still improving it...

The production!

Once these constraints assumed we had to find the know-how for production. I approached two people installed near Lyon, Frédéric Chevalier, owner of a HF welding factory and Frank Dean, an indispensable tool maker with the know-how for the manufacture of the mold (the electrode).

At this point the project had found two new partners in this creative dance. With PVC samples that Frederick had, we were able to begin a series of tests to find the right material (grain, texture, flexibility, flexibility), as well as to determine a suitable thickness. If it is not thick enough, it is fragile, if it is too much, it can inflate.

Carrying the puffcover!

A milestone was waiting for us: How are we going to carry it? We were convinced to have implemented an innovative idea, with a strap going around the protective cover mostly because we couldn't weld the strap with the PVC. The pressure to tearing & weight was too important.

And in another brainstorming, the idea appeared, carrying the instrument as a musician playing. The constraints of weight and tear have evaporated in an instant, and we could go into the details of the strap Puff cover.

It is designed, firstly, to facilitate porting soliciting shoulders, and secondly to hold the cover by hand by using the adjustment buckles to determine the right length.

The included strap allows, depending on the setting, a port "suitcase" or a port "shoulder" of the protective cover. The advantage of positioning the strap, directly on the instrument allows the protective cover to be free from stress when porting.

A concept but a lot of ideas...

When you have the feeling of holding a good idea, you can’t afford to not extrapolate ... and in that sense, we couldn't stop from Imagining a whole new range.  So we got the project to provide a cover for ukulele and violin. Smaller than its sister (about 80cm tall) and even lighter given the weight of the instruments, it will be with a handle in the center and a few accessories inside including setting the bow for violins or for mechanical protection. But to achieve our goals, we still need to work the shape, dimensions, to provide a finished product. That is also why we will still need all of you ..

Accessorizing the Puff Cover

As you can see, the puffcover offers some additional pieces including some for closing the cover. In total there is 3 stripes with Velcro, a pocket designed to protect the mechanics of the instrument, and also an uninflated PVC stripe in order to join the two parts. All the pieces may optionally be printed with originality to customize at the maximum the cover.

The chosen PVC to manufacture possesses its own grain (Satin) and its own color (ash gray). The almost infinite range of grains and colors allow us in a second time to access a wide range to meet specific needs.

Waar dient de collecte voor

Till today we have invested over 7,000 euros for technical research, manufacturing of the first mold and the purchase of the raw material.

We must definitely finalize the shape of the mold and optimize the technical choices: 2500 euros We plan to launch a first series of 100 pieces: 4000 euros We need to create compensations : 1 500 euros Launch of the community management campaign & financing various communication activities: 2000 euros

Asked for a total of 10 000 euros

If we manage our campaign, and your enthusiasm generates exceeding, it will allow us to project ourselves on extending the range and start thinking and production start-up of small pouch for ukuleles and violins. This will also allow us to have access to healthier material with PVC without phthalates.
