Pli Éditions – Collection 01

Founded in 2015, Pli is an independent publishing house supporting the new generation in architecture and design through different mediums and actions. Until recently exclusively devoted to the publication of an annual magazine, Pli Revue officially becomes Pli Éditions and launches its first collection of independent volumes, focusing on contemporary creatives. The creation of this first collection is a turning point for the publishing house, as this new project of significant scale aims to broaden the audience and the range of distribution of Pli, ultimately ensuring the long-term existence of the association.

.

Be they architects, product or graphic designers, researchers or theoreticians, many creative people are now developing singular, atypical and inspired practices. Pli Éditions is committed to making their productions and their creative processes visible in order to support them and nourish a more global research on contemporary forms of creation. Through a series of books, each dedicated to a personality from the studied creative fields, this collection aims to constitute a toolbox for understanding and deploying these disciplines. Aimed at amateurs as well as specialists, the Collection 01 seeks to enrich and disseminate theoretical and plastic insights necessary to the practices of design and architecture.

.

The first two books of the collection will respectively be focused on the work of the industrial designer Samy Rio, and on that of the winning architectural duo of Pli Public Workshop 01, MLAV.LAND. These two books will reveal the editorial and graphic line of the Collection 01, and will report on the theoretical and plastic work carried out by the creatives through a precise selection of their projects, research and productions. Both books will contain texts translated into French and English. The distribution will be handled by Les Presses du Réel.

He then went on to carry out residencies at the CIRVA in Marseille, the Cité de la Céramique in Sèvres and the Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto. He also collaborates with the kreo gallery and the Atelier Luma.

Waar dient de collecte voor

This collection is an important - and necessary - medium in the publication of today's and tomorrow's creatives. This project aims to support research and the questioning of our practices. It is a commitment undertaken by Pli Éditions to support creative practices and processes in the field of design and architecture.

The first book of the collection will be published in autumn 2020. Under optimal conditions, if we reach our first goal, we will be able to finance a print run of 500 copies for each of the two books.

The funding obtained through the KissKissBankBank campaign will enable us to publish an editorial object worthy of the work of the published creatives, and to distribute the books more widely. We are aiming to produce an ambitious collection thus requiring a significant financial investment (shooting and rental of the photo studio, remuneration of the authors and translator, etc.)

In case of trouble we will keep you informed as often and completely as possible: on KissKissBankBank, on InstagramFacebook and on our website.

Do you have any questions? You are welcome to ask them in the comments, here or by email to contact@pli-editions.com. We will add the most frequently asked questions here.

Should this campaign fail to achieve its goal, KissKissBankBank's operating system ensures that we would not receive any money and you would not be debited from your pledged amount for the selected rewards.
