Pli Éditions – Collection 01

<p><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/658097/1-1586436396.png" width="100%" /></p> <p>Founded in 2015, <strong>Pli is an independent publishing house</strong> supporting the new generation in <strong>architecture</strong> and <strong>design </strong>through different mediums and actions. Until recently exclusively devoted to the publication of an annual magazine, Pli Revue officially becomes <a href="http://pli-editions.com/" target="_blank">Pli &Eacute;ditions</a> and launches its first collection of independent volumes, focusing on contemporary creatives.&nbsp;The creation of this first collection is a turning point for the publishing house, as this new project of significant scale aims to broaden the audience and the range of distribution of Pli, ultimately ensuring the long-term existence of the association.</p> <p>.</p> <p><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/658098/2-1586436405.png" width="100%" /></p> <p>Be they architects, product or graphic designers, researchers or theoreticians, many creative people are now developing singular, atypical and inspired practices. Pli &Eacute;ditions is committed to making their productions and their creative processes visible in order to support them and nourish a more <strong>global research on&nbsp;contemporary forms of creation</strong>. Through a <strong>series of books,</strong> each dedicated to a personality from the studied creative fields, this collection aims to constitute a <strong>toolbox</strong> for understanding and deploying these disciplines. Aimed at amateurs as well as specialists, the Collection 01 seeks to enrich and disseminate theoretical and plastic insights necessary to the practices of <strong>design </strong>and <strong>architecture</strong>.</p> <p>.</p> <p><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/658099/3-1586436421.png" width="100%" /></p> <p>The first two books of the collection will respectively be focused on the work of the industrial designer <strong>Samy Rio</strong>, and on that of the winning architectural duo of <a href="https://ppw01.com/" target="_blank">Pli Public Workshop 01</a>, <strong>MLAV.LAND.</strong> These two books will reveal the editorial and graphic line of the Collection 01, and will report on the theoretical and plastic work carried out by the creatives through a precise selection of their projects, research and productions. Both books will contain texts translated into <strong>French and English.</strong> The distribution will be handled by <a href="https://www.lespressesdureel.com/" target="_blank">Les Presses du R&eacute;el</a>.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <hr /> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h2><strong><em>Futurproof? This double formation allows him to combine industrial and artisanal techniques, which he considers complementary and indispensable to each other.&nbsp;After graduating with distinction for his research on the use of bamboo tubes for industrial applications, he won the first prize of the Villa Noailles Design Parade in 2015. He then went on to carry out residencies at the CIRVA in Marseille, the Cit&eacute; de la C&eacute;ramique in S&egrave;vres and the Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto. He also collaborates with the kreo gallery and the Atelier Luma.</p> <p><strong>Catherine Geel</strong> is a design historian, curator, publisher, art director and project manager. She teaches design history and theory at ENSAD Nancy, ENS Paris-Saclay, and Sciences Po Paris. MLAV.LAND (Micro-Laboratoire pour l&rsquo;Architecture et la Ville) is composed of Maud L&eacute;vy, state-qualified architect, interior architect and designer, and Antoine Vercout&egrave;re, state-qualified architect.
