École les écureuils, or School of the Squirrels, is a bilingual alternative private school currently in the creation stage. The first school year will take place in September 2022. It will accommodate up to 16 kindergarten and primary school children. All necessary administrative procedures have already been undertaken. As president of the association representing our school, my name is Amandine. I am a 36 years old masseuse-physiotherapist. I am a mother of 2 boys aged 3 and 5. I’m also an avid follower of nurturing motherhood, babywearing, co-sleeping, positive education, non-violent communication, (and maybe I'll stop there!) I dream of a "cocooning" school for my children, in nature, where everyone is respected and heard. Not finding my ideal values in the current offer of schools in our area, I decided to embark on the adventure of creating one instead! I was joined by two educators working in a bilingual alternative school with whom we share the same values: Ludivine and Amy. Here is a brief description about our project (if you want to know more, please don't hesitate to consult our Facebook page). The educational approach is benevolent, positive, alternative, eco-citizen and close to nature. Educators will be free to use the methods described by Maria Montessori, as well as those by Freinet, Steiner or even what is found in Forest Schools. The approach can be adapted according to the needs of the child. Each child’s natural rhythm will be respected, whether it be for his intellectual learning, his social relations, or his physiological needs. The well-being of each child is our priority! The school is located in Villers sur Coudun, in the Oise. An old workshop of more than 100m2 will be completely restored and transformed into a brand new school. Children will be able to enjoy a 3000m2 forest, a green space, and a vegetable garden. For the start of the school year in September, our teaching team is already ready! We cannot wait to welcome our first children! Since we launched the pre-registrations a few days ago, and we have been more than delighted with the enthusiasm it has generated!
