<strong>As Venice will be listed by october 2013 as a World Monument Watch by the World Monuments Fund due to the passing of the ocean liners within the city, young venitian are calling up for the restoration of a vandalized venitian boat.</strong></p>

In the neighbourhood of Santa Croce, parked in front of the San Giacomo del Orio church, a sandalo wooden long venitian, has beeing ruined by non identified vandals using it as toilets. The owner of the sandalo got to meet those young venitians part of il Caicio (a venitian boat restoration organization). Together they decided to restore that boat <em> </em>within a socio-cultural project to aware people about the traditional venitian boat heritage in partnership with ICI – Istituto Culturale Internazionale – Magazzino del Caffe’ – Venice. </p>

To accompany the restoration, local venitian organizations will be involved to sensibilize children, schools, parishes, old people, neighbours. The restoration zone will be open to the public. Potscard presenting the project will be given out in the neighbourhood, sensibilization booklet offered to kids. Once the sandaletto restored, it will turned into a community boat to be used and shared by all people that partcipated to the restoration work and the inhabitants of the neighbourhood. </p>

On october 2013 a first awereness action senzibilized the inhabitant of the neighbourhood. <em>Toilette </em>was showed out of the canal to be displayed to the public at campo Giacomo del Orio during the first cleaning.</p>

Allocation of funds

<strong>The necessary amount for the restoration is estimated only around 200 euros. The core aim of the project is to create inhabitants and visitors involvement. Therefore a sensibilization work will be achived by volonters from "il Caicio" organization through presentations in schools, visits of the restoration workshop site, publishing and distribution of poscard and booklets.</strong></p>

The sociacultural part that project is definitly the most important one.</p>

This project has a deliberately low budget thanks to the involvement of volunteers from the association he Caicio and field work they perform every day for many years. Additional funds will be used to boost awareness of the Venetian and tourists further editions of postcards and booklet, and posters.</p>
