Hi Mates ! First of all, I apologize for the long delay, understanding that everything is slower in this part of the globe. Finally, here is the video about the work we did on the spot in Hijrah, Gang Mangga, Sumbawa, West Nusa Tengarra, Indonesia. After many discussions with the natives, regarding the current situation, we decided to help a maximum of families among the poorest of the village. Thanks to your generous donations on KissKissBankBank fundraising, we were able to buy food packs for 80 families, including the daily and non-perishable needs. One House so, one family has an average of 6 to 8 people (grandparents, parents, children, etc.) A food pack : 5kg of rice, 3 packs of noodles, 1 litre of oil, 1kg of coffee, 1 box of tea, 1kg of sugar. Each pack costs 10 euros. Total 800 euros, including 400 euros of rice, the basic food in Indonesia. In addition, we gave cash money to the most needy, isolated and/or very old, to lonely women with children as well as others in a physical incapacity to work, such as Mr Ali and some others, you will see in the attached video - Total 300 euros. Currently, houses are being rebuilt thanks to small government subsidies that are starting to arrive. Once again, I would like to thank you warmly for your generosity and support during the campaign. Also, a big thank you to Jemy for his support and to his family without which nothing would have been possible on the spot and a special thought for Nova, Obet and Naim. Actually, we are working on an associative project "People From The Sea" which will aim to help more generally in Indonesia, where living conditions are sometimes the most extreme. Bonjour à tous ! Tout d’abord, je tiens à m’excuser pour le retard de publication, sachant que tout est beaucoup plus lent dans cette partie du globe. Voici finalement la vidéo relative au travail que nous avons pu effectuer sur place à Hijrah, Gang Mangga, Sumbawa, West Nusa Tengarra, Indonesia. Après de nombreuses discussions avec les autochtones et face à la situation actuelle, nous avons décidé d’aider un maximum de familles parmi les plus pauvres du village. Grâce a vos nombreux dons, nous avons constitué des packs alimentaires pour 80 familles, incluant le nécessaire quotidien et non périssable. Une maison soit une famille compte en moyenne 6 à 8 personnes (grands parents, parents, enfants, etc) Un panier alimentaire : 5kg de riz, 3 paquets de pates, 1 litre d’huile, 1kg de café, 1 boite de thé, 1kg de sucre. Chaque panier coûte 10 euros. Total 800 euros incluant 400 euros de riz, l’aliment de base en Indonésie. Par ailleurs, nous avons donné de l’argent cash aux personnes les plus nécessiteuses, isolées et/ou très âgées, aux femmes seules avec des enfants et à d’autres dans l’incapacité physique de travailler, comme Mr Ali et quelques autres que vous verrez dans la vidéo ci-jointe - Total 300 euros. Actuellement, des maisons sont en cours de reconstruction grâce aux petites subventions gouvernementales qui commencent à arriver. A nouveau, je tiens à vous remercier chaleureusement pour votre générosité et votre soutien lors de la campagne. Aussi, un grand merci à Jemy pour son soutien et à sa famille sans laquelle rien n’aurait été possible sur place, une pensée spéciale pour Nova, Obet et Naim. Actuellement nous travaillons sur un projet associatif « People From The Sea » qui aura pour but de venir en aide au peuple de la mer en Indonésie, pour lesquels les conditions de vie sont parfois des plus extremes. Still the same problem for the forgotten villages of Indonesia, as Hijrah in the west of Nusa tenggarra ; the lack of food and basic needs such as rice. Since several weeks and the government's small gift that included some spoiled products, nothing has came for the village. Women explain that they had only received 2kg of rice for their families. Unfortunately, there is nothing left to eat for the next few weeks. Now I'm so eager to go on-spot to share our fundraising that will end in 24 hours. And I am very proud of you and your generosity that will have allowed us to reach 210% of our objective. Pulau Bungin, Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara. In this Badjo village, we met a little angel. Unfortunately, her both parents from Netherlands passed away when she was a baby. Since then, the Badjos have taken care of her. She was adopted by the whole village and found a family. Today, speaking only the Badjo dialect, she was a little shy to make a video, but she seemed to us a joyful and happy child. Even if they have very little and they just lost a lot, the Indonesian and Badjo People of the remote areas are so generous and helpful. They are a real example to the world. On the spot, we will do our best, to help as much as possible. We are not going to let them down... Hi everyone! Welcome in Pulau Bungin, Alas Barat, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Let me introduce you to the Badjo people, a minority generally named the sea gypsies, but I prefer call them « People From The Sea ». Most of them live in typically floating villages and from traditional fishing. They kept some animist beliefs and customs so each village has its shaman for medicine. Mainly, they eat rice and fish such as Ikan Kering, the dried fish. When it is possible, children like to go to school but they also have to learn how to fish with their parents. Thanks to friends Obet and Jimy, today we are fortunate to be able to visit One of this place so special... Unfortunately this Badjo village has also been severely damaged by the latest earthquakes and their collateral problems such as fires. In Bungin, 85% of the dwellings were destroyed. For the time being, the government is still focused on the most tourist areas. As you know, in remote places, so far no assistance or aid has arrived. You may remember that the school was destroyed during the last earthquake at the end of August. Today we visit the kindergarten and primary school, now at the end of a trail, in the middle of the banana fields. The villagers built these outdoor schools themselves. But parents are sad to watch their children study on the ground in the dust. Even though the government is still focusing on the tourist area and leave this people alone, the children remain smiling and thankful... They are happy to be able to continue studying! The Indonesian people retain their beautiful soul and generous spirit. At the end of the attached video, a little wink from the children... Today, I’m really sad because news is really bad... A health drama occurred last night in Alas Barat district, Sumbawa City, Hijrah Village and all around. Our friend is too much sick to stand up and show us what happened. So, on the video below, we are following Jimy at the « hospital » In reality, it’s a health camp, built in emergency few hours ago. Due to expired foodstuffs that came from the last public donation, hundreds of people around the district have been poisoned. Children and the elderly are the most affected. Most sick people lie down on the ground on sheets. With sole treatment, infusion by drip-drips to rehydrate. In addition to losing everything, the population is now, in even more dramatic conditions. Today our friend makes us visit another family in another survival camp in Hijrah. Always the same problems: - The lack of food As seen in the video, the few vegetables, part of the government aid received yesterday, are no longer very fresh. - Sleep on the ground during the endless cold nights. Many large families, from grandparents to newborns are living in same conditions. - They even cook, wash or even for the younger ones, kid on the ground You can wash the video below to understand the sad situation. But for the whole village, only 1 pack of 5kg rice, 3 cartons of water and 4 survival bags including a little bit of tea, coffee, oil, sugar, baby care, etc... Ridiculous! Does that seem enough to help the whole village? This is unfortunately what happens when leaders categorically refuse international assistance! Moreover, I learned today that the government was planning to start restoring some of the most damaged houses in 6 months. Doesn't it care about the rainy season that will start in five to eight weeks if we're lucky? How will this happen for those who live under plastic covers? It’s a good day for the village all the people are very happy, even is they don’t have food Villagers received some clothes, coming from a Tour Operator Company based in Jakarta. Sometimes the government sends also few supplies, but more often nothing comes. When they receive food in these conditions, people must fight to get some.
