<p> <img alt="Banni_re_1-1409747151" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/116879/banni_re_1-1409747151.png"></p> <p>  </p> <p>  </p> <p>  </p> <p> TEJIDO is a research project about traditional weaving technics that will drive us to south America within a few months. During this trip our goal is to list the technics for hand-weaving and index paterns, shapes and materials. The result of this work will then be published in a book going with documentaries regarding the experience of exchanging with the people there.</p> <p>  </p> <p> As designers, we explore the possibility to trade skills and make connections between hand-work and open design. Travelling from place to place with a backpack to meet craftsmen from the Andes, we want to work with them in order to constitute a colection of textile samples, using a portative weaving loom that we've been making here thanks to laser cutting.</p> <p>  </p> <p> We will be leaving from Buenos Aires to see Asuncion, Sucre, Lima, Santiago with a few stops in communities and villages especially in the region of Sucre, Potosi and Salta (South Bolivia and North Argentina) where many weavers are leaving and working.</p> <p>  </p> <p> Tejido aims as well at the understanding of the ways this millenary artcraft is being handovered, as much as the place it takes up in the culture of these countries. This experience will also be the chance to get the possibilities of exchanges and mutual enrichment coming from a designer-craftman collaboration.</p> <p> To sum up, we are in search of true human stories told within objects. Stories about craftsmen, stories about exchanges and common creation told within extracts of fabrics turning into records.</p> <p>  </p> <p> We will be transcripting the whole of this work in a book which will present a repertoire of shapes and patterns, an inventory of materials and a collection of testimonies, completed with filmed documentaries.  </p> <p>  </p> <p> We dream of bringing the project to completion, sharing with you all the steps of this adventure and invite you to discover weavings across the continent, as well as craftmen who make them, their work, their lives.
