Transat Jacques Vabre 2021 - Why it wouldn't be us? ?

WE NEED YOU
A little over a year ago, we embarked on a crazy project, making our dream come true: to take part in the Transat Jacques Vabre 2021.

Today, we need your support!

In order to finance our project we are looking for partners. The search for partners is a story of meeting and sharing.
It would be a great help to us if you could relay this information or put us in contact with people who may be interested in our project.

At the same time, we would also like to ask for your help directly through this crowdfunding project.
It is a way to integrate you in our adventure, to share our passion with you and of course to finance part of our budget.

.
THE DREAM OF A LIFETIME - OUT OF PASSION EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE
Crossing the oceans aboard a racing sailboat, taking part in one of the most mythical offshore races, surpassing yourself by confronting the elements. It'has always been a dream for us.
However, we have always believed that our lives were traced in another direction, nothing was intended to make our dream come true and take part in such a mythical ocean race.

However, at the end of our studies, we surprised ourselves thinking that this would be possible. We had been joking for a long time that we could both take part in the Transat Jacques Vabre. But then, the tone had changed, and we said to ourselves: "And why it wouldn't be us?".
.

THE TRANSAT JACQUES VABRE IN CLASS 40

The Transat Jacques Vabre is the most demanding and legendary double-handed transatlantic in the world. It has seen the birth of legendary sailors such as Eric Tabarly, the Bourgnon brothers, Michel Desjoyeaux, François Gabart, and even Jean Le Cam. So when you think that in less than one year we'll be on the starting line, it makes you dizzy.

We will take part in the Transat Jacques Vabre in Class40, a 12m boat, a true racer of the oceans. The Class40 is the perfect monohull for us: reliable, on a human scale and affordable.

There are 160 in the world, our boat is number 115, it's called BOOGIE DOWN.

TWO FRIENDS - THE PERFECT TEAM FOR A DOUBLE-HANDED RACE

We met in 2013 at the beginning of our studies at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), very quickly we became best friends and inseparable.

Our friendship has extended beyond our passion for sailing, although today this will be the one that will bind us forever.

.

Victor: “I grew up in Reunion Island; I discover there my passion for sailing and my wonder for the open sea. I left my island to continue my studies at EPFL in mechanical engineering. "

Enguerrand: "I grew up in Paris but it was in Carnac, Brittany, that I discovered sailing. My father gave me this passion, which I in turn I shared by being a sailing instructor. I studied Engineering in Data Science at EPFL "

AN ENTREPRENEURIAL PROJECT

An offshore racing project is a real entrepreneurial adventure. We didn't expected how much! To achieve our goals we have to juggle several hats. And it is in parallel with our work in Geneva that we are carrying out this exercise. To be in the best conditions, we have opted for a part-time 60%. We had to set up an company, apply for a bank loan, negotiate contracts, pay invoices, plan a communication plan, bring people together, do logistics, find a racing boat… and so on.

Be careful, we don't forget to be sailors, it's still a sailing project above all!

Since we got our boat in early summer 2020, our main goal has been to get it under control. We surrounded ourselves with a small, very competent team to learn in the best possible way. We are fortunate to benefit from the experience of Bertrand Delesne, our super coach. Currently Boat Captain on IDEC Sport, previously racer in mini 6.50 and Class40. He helps us build our project on land and on water.

In parallel with practical trainings, we followed a lot of theoretical training with the Lorient offshore racing center where we are members. The training covers different aspects of navigation, weather and strategy at sea, sleep, nutrition, mechanics on board. During the race we will be alone, and can only count on us to face any situation.

In 2021, we will participate in the Class40 season. On the program, fleet training sessions as well as the Class40 circuit races. After a long tour in the Channel Sea, (The Normandy Channel Race) and a return trip to the Azores (Les Sables - Horta), we will be qualified and will meet in Le Havre to face the end of the adventure. Let's go, see you in Brazil!

REWARDS

Since the start of the project we have been trying to share what we are going through as much as possible.

Crowdfunding is another way to integrate yourself into our adventure. On the one hand, the money raised will be of great help to us (see below), as an indication this represents 4% of our overall budget, so ten thousand thanks for that.

On the other hand, crowdfunding allows us to engage even more the conversation with you, to include even more people in this project and if possible, to make as many people as possible dream.

The counterparts go in this direction. The "enguevicsailing's family" pack is particularly close to our hearts because it really allows us to create closeness with you all. Because let's say it ... living this adventure without sharing it doesn't have the same taste!
