WeBelong: a sustainable event that showcases positive & innovative solutions

It is the only university to train uneducated women to become solar energy engineers. This tremendous initiative has been replicated in 89 countries.</p> <p><a href="https://www.ted.com/talks/bunker_roy#t-991304" target="_blank">https://www.ted.com/talks/bunker_roy#t-991304</a></p> <p><strong>Daan Roosegaarde, Dutch artist, designer and ecologist, cleans the air of cities.</strong></p> <p>Among several of his inspiring innovations, Daan created the Smog Free Tower : a &quot;giant vacuum cleaner&quot; that can purify up to 30,000 m&sup3; of pollution per hour. This tower was set up in Beijing when the Chinese capital reached one of the largest pollution peaks in its history. I am a mother of three children. After having worked more than 20 years for a large communication group, I was expatriated in China to launch and manage an event agency and especially to work on the Beijing Olympic Games. From living there, I became aware of the problems related to local pollution.</p> <p>In 2012,&nbsp;I travelled to Rio de Janeiro for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development. I banded together with people from countries who want to change the world. On the return flight, I became convinced of wanting to participate in the emergence of this new world, a world that makes sense.</p> <p>Driven by inspiration and by opening myself to a new consciousness, I left my position as one of the managing director in a large group to become a start-up.&nbsp;<strong>That&#39;s how WeBelong was born!</strong></p> <p>I breathe a holistic dimension with the key message:&nbsp;<strong>take care of yourself, others and the planet.</strong></p> <p>For three years, I worked &ldquo;for the glory&rdquo; without counting my hours! Yet I feel richer. Inwardly. And believe me it&#39;s priceless. Even though we have had to move mountains, I have never regretted this change in my life. During 2 days and 2 nights we enchanted the future : we gather together pioneers with the same ideas and beliefs, we broadcast their live testimonies on line, so that you can be inspired by the proof of their solutions, to be like them and make our world a better place.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>How do we do that?&nbsp;</strong>Through testimonies, sharing, movies, artists&#39; performances, meetings, sensory experiences, and action! Each pioneer shares ecological tips so that as many of us as possible can adapt them to their daily lives.</p> <p>Our event is held in China because pollution has no borders! Holding this event in one of the most polluted countries in the world, where also many solutions are emerging, to us it makes sense. And don&rsquo;t forget that part of this problem is caused by western consumption.&nbsp;</p> <p>Our goal is that this event can be seen on line by a lot of people in China and around the world. By connecting to each other, we can have an impact for a better future. Let&rsquo;s make understand that change our way of thinking and behaviour, it is within our grasp. It&rsquo;s time to think outside the box and to anchor oneself from within. Our lifestyle is running at a fast pace. The goal of this moment of reconnection is to learn to calm the flow of thoughts, to bring attention to the&nbsp;moment present and to be inspired by future exchanges. But we remind them that reducing their meat consumption is already a step forward. That every little step counts. We train the chef of the restaurant of the place that welcomes us. He and his team learn to cook delicious, colorful, tasty food without animal protein. Our dinner is a very special moment of reconnection to food. It takes place in silence, with conscience and with gratitude _/\_ We assure you, our speakers and our participants no longer consider the act of eating in the same way.
