YesWeCamp Marseille 2013 is at the same time:

- a URBAN CAMPSITE open to everyone all summer long with sheds, caravans, dormitory, space for tents,

- a place for DAILY ENTERTAINEMENT with family games, exhibitions, DIY workshops...

- about thirty ARTIST RESIDENCIES open to visitors' participation,

- a COLLECTIVE WORKSPACE for meetings, conferences, flea markets, open to both organisations and companies,

- an EXPERIMENTAL AND SELF-BUILT MICRO-CITY, with ecological systems and innovative objects to re-think daily uses,

- a PARTY SPACE for big events and neighborhood entertainment,

- a WACKY WAY to discover the amazing city of Marseille, ranked #2 in the New York Times list of the best places to visit in 2013.

How to come to YesWeCamp?

How the camping will be organized?

Wow! The site is just splendid. It feels extremely good here on this industrial wasteland floating between city and nature surrounded by hills and perched above the sea.

Come to YesWeCamp by car, train, bus, or by BOAT!

We wanted to create a strong image, using the natural strengths onsite - the amphitheater on the sea - while creating a central space. Hence why we opted for this sun shape.

Here is a more specific design that combines all functions of YesWeCamp.

On this programmatic plan, you can see the different areas and the constructions.

On the lower part along the docks are all the activities: sheds for organisations, the playground, the multipurpose stage and the coworking space. Above, the plan is built around a central agora, from which everything radiates. On the first ring, caravans and other small artistic accomodation units. Just behind are the sheds in height. They overlook the agora and have a marvelous sea view. Then, dormitory and platforms for tents and artist residencies. Finally, the showers and restrooms.

The northern part of the site is the storage area for various materials, the composting station and some parking space.

Warning: this layout and the construction are being studied with a security committee, and changes might be made to fit operational constraints and safety.

How much will it cost?

NB: YesWeCamp is first of all an artistic and experimental project, with no commercial purpose. But the strength of the project is also in its capacity to self-finance. Thus, those who want to stay a night, have a drink or do some of the activities will first need to become members of the organization. Incomes created will enable operations onsite, its maintenance, entertainment and artistic creation.

Here are the prices proposed:

MEMBERSHIP: 3 euros per person, valid all year round. Members receive a special red silicone wristband, which gives them access to all functions onsite.

ACCOMMODATION: There will be various living units. There are five categories:

Mobile Home: you come with your own mobile home, you get a space and electricity: 40 euros for 2 persons, 10 euros for each extra person.

Tent: you come with your own tent and choose a space: 10 to 13 euros per person

Dormitory: you sleep in beds or hammocks in original collective spaces: 15 to 18 euros per person.

Small bedroom: basic furnished rooms, double or quadruple, in huts, sheds or customized caravans, linens provided: 20 to 25 euros per person.

Suite: our best accomodations, huts or caravans with special design, good comfort and/or an amazing view: 40 euros per person. With private shower: + 20 euros.

Included for everyone staying overnight: bicycle washing machines, composting toilets, ecological showers, secure lockers (20 euros deposit). A basic breakfast is offered from 7:30 to 10 am. And for those who really enjoy this moment of the day, we prepare a special breakfast for 6 euros with fresh orange juice, boiled eggs...

DRINKS / FOOD:

We will do our best to offer quality and fair prices for all drinks and food. Food will be prepared by artists and cooks invited for a limited period of time.

Current payments are made in gastons and by credit cards. “Gaston” is the currency developped by Marseille2013OFF. Available in several outlets in Marseille and at the entrance of YesWeCamp.

What is on the agenda?

Everything! Everything! You will get to see everything at YesWeCamp.

Why? Because the program will not only be the result of our best ideas, but also of all yours! Indeed, the program is ever-evolving with the propositions you keep sending in.

Daily: “Summertime everyday”

Visits of the site, sports, games, garden patches, exhibitions, work in progress with the artists in residence, workshops, small shows, conferences...

Once a month: Let’s celebrate!

One weekend a month, we party at YesWeCamp. On saturdays: presentation of the works of the artists in residence, great feast with all the neighbours followed by concerts. On sundays: brunch and special activities.

And for the best ones: Special day! “Camp in Marseille” label A concert, a festival...YesWeCamp is transformed and becomes an exclusive venue for a particuliar event.

This project was born without institutional call and has developed only thanks to the contributors and the KissBankers of the prototype. We benefit from a subsidy from Marseille2013OFF, but this will not be enough to cover all project costs. We need your support!
