Présentation détaillée du projet

Who are the Norwegian Ninjas?

Norwegian Ninjas consists of the contemporary circus artists Elise and Lisa. We formed the company in january this year, based on our common interest for what we like to call Ninjaskills, and a fascination for the 1980s.

Through years of experience within circus  disciplines as contortion, swinging trapeze and chinese pole, we are always on a quest to learn new incredible skills, with more or less success. Exploring new disciplines, such as bullwhipping, knifethrowing and rollerskating is the Ninjaquest, accepting inevitable failure is the Ninjaway. The more difficult the better, the more failure along the way, the stronger grows the Ninjaspirit.

What do we want to do?

After a few months of researching the wonderful world of failure, we are now ready to create our very first show together. And obviously this has to be done in a place where Two Norwegian Ninjas would be as out of their place as possible: Cape Town in South Africa is way outside of our comfort-zone, so Cape Town it will be!

The circus school Zip Zap has already invited the Ninjas with open arms, and will provide us with a 5 week residency. In exchange, the Ninjas will give classes in circus to the students of the school, and help the students with producing their final acts of the year.

What do we need?

We need money! As every newly founded circus company taking it's curious baby steps into the world of live entertainment, we have no budget at all. Through this crowdfunding we hope to collect the money to pay for our flight tickets from Europe to South Africa, and back again. We are asking for support to make this dream come true, so that the idea of the Norwegian Ninjas can make the first part of the travel to go where it needs to be; on stage, in the form of a show.

Our budget is simple: 850 € per ninja to cover 2 plane-tickets tour/retour Europe-Cape-Town.

À quoi servira la collecte ?

First of all, The Norwegian Ninjas promise to make a show that will make you laugh, cry, cringe in fear and mope with awe and amazement. The philosophy of the Ninjas is to constantly go out of our comfort-zone, and so it is essential that the making of the show takes place somewhere where the culture and ways of living is completely different from what we are used to, so that we can get a proper slap in our ninjafaces, so to speak.

Secondly, Zip Zap is a growing circus school in Cape Town that works as a social project that offers free circus educational programmes to children and young adults. The project teaches young people to work together in peaceful coexistence, helps them to build self confidence and to express themselves through physical arts. Zip Zap profits greatly from having teachers coming in from different cultures and circus communities around the world.

Norwegian Ninjas feels, that making our show under these circumstances would not only contribute to the show, but also to the growing circus community in Capetown. By supporting this crowdfunding, you are supporting both the making of an awesome circus show, and the realization of circusclasses for kids eager to develop their circus skills.
