The project

For the past two years we have been transfoming trash into treasure.

We constructed an armchair out of tires and that chair insipred us to search the internet and learn how to design and create objects that are environmentally friendy!

In the Spring of 2012, we opened the first showroom of Let’s ReTire !  We had volunteers showing people how the furniture was made and handing out pamphlets comprised of the history of the tire, what it is made of, how it is disposed of, and how people around the world reuse them. The furniture was made by 20 volunteers who are as passionate about the environment as we are.

The showroom is located at the new urban arts school of Toulouse : HIP HOP ARTS

This is a movement of discovering new ways to recycle what has been thrown out; we are giving our waste new life!

The showroom is to be used!  We want you to come sit on the chairs, put your feet up on the hassock, play a game at the table, and exchange ideas on how to become environmentally concerned individuals and create less waste.  The tire is the perfect topic for discussing how one item can and does have many uses.

Our showroom has been enjoyed at 8 events in the region of Toulouse France, which is located 7 hours south of Paris.

After our showroom recieved such a good reception, we wanted to expand its size and encourage others to join us in the process!  The public asked a lot of questions on how the furniture was made and if they could learn how to make the pieces.

We support do it yourself projects and want to form our own, but we need your help!  We hope to host more workshops that have a focus on transforming waste into something practical.  Today we are working with organizations in Toulouse to find public spaces to make and show our work!  For our second year we hope to host an event that has an interactive aspect to show how fun it can be to make something old new.  Our goal is to have this event up and running by spring 2013 and our dream is to bring a group to a tire dump and clean it up.  We believe in reusing tires!  Won’t you join our cause and believe too?

Why fund it?

We want to develop and share our project  with the world! Today we want to:

- Increase the size of the space to include 7 to 24  new seats.

- Increase environmental awareness through interactive displays and games

- Hold more events to reach a greater number of people

- Develop workshops that target all ages

We therefore need € 3450 ($4,400) as follows:

Manufacture of new furniture: 150 €  ($195)

Manufacture of displays and games: 300 €  ($390)

Equipment and tools for workshops: € 500  ($650)

Public relations for the project: € 500 ($650)

Hours employees must work to develop the project (100H): 1500 €  ($2,000)

Realization of counterparties kkbb: 250 €  ($325)

8% Kisskissbankbank fees: 250 €  ($325)

Help us to exceed that amount!

Following the loss of a partnership with an organization (shout out to "Friends of Cele") our activity decreased significantly during the year 2012 and despite our best efforts we have struggled to compensate the loss. While we work hard to maintain the activity of the association,  we need more funds to carry out our projects.  All the funds of this campaign will go towards Let's ReTire! and allow it to reach a wider audience .
