THE MAILLÉ-BRÉZÉ PROJECT
One of the most spectacular event of Teenage Kicks 2015 festival will be the work of Velvet and Zoer on the Maillé-Brézé warship in the middle of the Loire’s river. It’s almost 1000m2 that the French artists VELVET and ZOER ‘ll paint, revisiting the Razzle Dazzle (a camouflage technic used during the First World War).
From the 1st of September, VELVET and ZOER will work under the passers-by’s eyes. The visitors’ll be able to see the evolution of their work day by day.
The aim is to valorize an historical, cultural and artistic heritage: the Razzle Dazzle.
VELVET ET ZOER :
Velvet and Zoer are a french artist duo, stemming from graffiti, passionate by industries, boat and shipyard. They combine theses influences with their industrial designer studies to realize original and accomplished work on canvas or walls.
They realize a fresco for the event “Over the Wall”, in Nantes in 2012.
Today, some prestigious gallery as Kaikai Kiki gallery in Tokyo support them and believe in their work.
The Maillé-Brézé is a protected monument, classified “monument historique”, so we have to put it back at his normal state. Painting it, is a big challenge but cleaning it, without pouring dirty water in the river will be another one. To realize it, we have to take extra – and expensive- cares. Today we have the support of the city of Nantes, of the region Pays de la Loire and the DRAC (Regional Cultural Affairs Directorate), however it’s not enough. That’s why we are asking for your support.
