BEE is a hardworking useful .........tricycle!




Hi. My name is Robert Lajda.


My  big love is aviation. I have worked for  many years in Ultra light airplane production culminating  in my work for French museum in La Ferté Alais near Paris - reconstruction of historic glider.




  Later I have spend 5 years in London with everyday commuting to work through traffic jams. As a bicycle fan (cross Europe trip on bicycle in 1990) I very early bought a city bicycle - foldable Brompton. It proved faster than Metro, saved me a lot of money and gave me unforgettable direct touch with the city.  



That time I started to dream about  comfortable tricycle which will fill the gap between bicycle and a car, taking the best  from the both worlds. Dreams are dreams and life change almost everything. 

But when my kids came, I get it back. I made that dream  for them.




It ride so well, that I really regret to grow so big. Than I start to dream again. With traffic jams even in my small town an news about the pollution  from all around the world I start to design the solution.




DADA, as I call it,  was beautiful, but weight is crucial not only in aviation, so I cut off everything redundant and improved imperfections.


 My opinion is, that this kind of vehicle cannot be ever very “serious”. Beside safety, beauty, efficiency, versatility and practicality there must be a FUN FACTOR to make it desirable for crowds. 

So , here is the BEE- versatile HPV for everyday commuting, sport and fun.





 BEE is urban recumbent tricycle with fun factor in DNA. Not only looks like  bee, but thanks to full front and rear suspension and high ground clearance it is fun to ride not only on asphalt, but also on grass, forest and country bumpy  roads, even small steps are not problem.



BEE have a perfect not obscured 360 degree view - an important  part of passive safety.




The biggest selling feature of the urban tricycle is that it is a bicycle with nearly all of the comfort, safety and weather protection of car. It doesn´t require driving licence, insurance, parking and fuel fee, it also offers many of the most important creature comforts of a car, such as instrumentation, wipers and a huge lockable carrying capacity. 

 It can ride on the bike path, it can mix safely with traffic. The urban tricycle is  much safer than a naked bicycle when forced to mix with cars.

The recumbent position is the most efficient method of pedalling, which makes the urban tricycle efficient and comfortable for use by anyone. The half shell protects the user from the elements and the third wheel improves stability.





The body is classical bicycle technology- welded steel and aluminium  tube structure -light, strong, damage resistant, easy lockable and versatile. Exchangeable front and side panels allow easy personalisation or significant design change in case of front panel. This kind of construction is also very silent without disturbing sounds and resonations.

 All mechanical parts are standard reliable and cheap parts from bicycle industry. So its easy to maintain repair and replace them. In result , the BEE is immortal machine with long lasting value - good even for investment  purposes  :)  and thanks its simplicity and timeless design soon it become classic on the streets (Sooner or later, lets see  :) .

Windscreens : polycarbonate windscreen and (tinted) roof .

Space : drivers height: 1.55 m - 1.95 m, self locking adjustable back support.

Lights : Battery lights on front and rear.




Another option is an installation of the solar panel for motorized version.





BEE can be equipped with a wide range of accessories. Our originally designed foldable rear rack can accommodate all sizes of bicycle bags, motoboxes, baskets, child seats, theirs combination, spare battery, etc. Extra large and heavy  items can be placed on front rack – extra weight here is even improving stability. There is another luggage behind the flip front panel and space inside the cockpit in front of the handlebars. Another lockable storage space for battery and small items is under the seat and on the central tunnel.




Till now I have done  on BEE 500 km in town and short country trips. I tested it in storm, rain, snow, freeze and wind -passed. It really have a sense!  Cant wait for a holiday when I take a tent, backpack and family on bicycles and will go to discover horizons.



Why fund it?




In today world there are three major concerns which are always being addressed in the media: money, health and the environment. Project of human powered urban tricycle sets out to design and manufacture a product which can appease each of these issues.


The urban tricycle shares many of the advantages of the car but produces zero emissions. All these factors combine to produce a new elegant form of transport which incorporates into a healthy lifestyle. It aims to change the views of cycling and produce a society with better health, more money and greener attitudes towards the environment by reducing pollution and the consumption of finite resources.


The project set out to solve some of the current disadvantages of cycling and improve the comfort of human powered transport.

Everything is in human mind. In today stressful world it seems impossible but is absolutely necessary to slow down before we kill each other or ourselves.


The aim of this project is not only to create some useful machine, but also a community of people who care about the world around, who know its price and how to enjoy it, and also know what is the price to move from A to B without pushing the accelerator in the car and swearing in the fuel station.


This kind of transport really have a sense. Hard to prove without let you try. This idea is slowly coming. In USA they have an ELF from Organic Transit.  In every state exist small velomobile community. The biggest problem is the price. Cheapest non motorized  velomobiles prices start around 4000€.  Its possible to use BEE without the motor. On the flat ground it benefit from better aerodynamics and is faster than normal bicycle. But for comfort in hills and acceleration is good to have a motor.  Price of motorized version start at 3500 €,what seem horrible before you start to count all the money you paid for a car, fuel, parking, insurance, fines, maintenance, gym, obesity cure, antidepressant  and other pills,...a.t.c.  And before you die 120 years old (thats how long you can use BEE without medical check) you can resell it almost for the same price you bought it (if its in the same good condition like you :).


So, if this catch you, spread the word around you, if you can-help financially to set up serial production, or  best - buy one if you fell in love. You deserve it. The price will go down when it sell in thousands.
