The project

This web documentary chronicles the musical and human adventure of two enthusiasts in search of the rising, alive or resistant counterculture.

It is a journey at the heart of the alternative musics, in closer of the artists that we shall observe through their lifestyles and their artistic expression (electronic musics, rap, reggae, traditional, experimental)

During this adventure our 2 explorers are in search of these artists, having managed to meet them, they interview and film them during live session, these exchanges will also be the opportunity to evoke with them the place of this culture in their life.

But it is also a pretext to share moments of the daily life with these artists and originals in the bend of a restaurant or an invitation to stay in their family.

Consisted of relevant and sharp interviews, this documentary questions our generation about our vision and of the music and the pursuit of the cons-culture .

The destinations and the meetings will allow us to evoke and to understand the origin and the development of certain musics: who were the precursors, how they 've been known  and how they will impact their generation .We shall try to know who are the symbolic contemporary characters of every met musical style.

Above all, through these surprising, powerful and intriguing)meetings it is our claimed counterculture and our clichés which we shall push knockdown).

Where is my underground ? :

The said currents "underground" gather individuals and cultures in margin and counterculture.

With my friend Jim for whom " music is life " we wonder sometimes immersed, sometimes submerged in parties,on the positioning of our genertion of thirty-year old in this counterculture. The relationship which we have with the music is the mirror of our lifestyles and we have to see it through the prism of our social, economic and historic environment. At the time of the hegemony of the social networks  dooes this counterculture  is different according to the place of expression?

What is it for those of our generation who live in another place in the  the world … Is there any universality of the underground ?

The presentation will be original, unexpected, sensitive and innovative.

This new format will be transmédia, broadcasted on  Internet, every subject or evoked artist will give access to a window towards another video, audio live recording, links, interview and secondary scenes.

Besides the possibility of downloading live extracts and audio mix It will be possible to buy the musics of the artists met during the explorations.

The whole raised money will be redistributed to the artists of the documentary.

The choice of this first destination was obvious, I had already visited Bangkok in past and it seemed to me interesting and scheming to leave the nest within this city marked out about  tourists, the active artists of the Thai counterculture  … I had the sensation that in the highly-rated of the more consumer or traditional music, the youth of this emerging country tried to express its particularity …

This is the way we went in search of underground Thai!

What knocks by arriving to Bangkok, it is its energy, the hectic life of Thai is tangible in every corner of street.

We have the sensation that the exceptional is everywhere, accessible. This city offers itself to the visitor, in the curious, in the enthusiast as a fair in the vintage records(disks) becomes a playground for the finder of rare vinyls.

For my part, I began to search this city since Paris, to investigate the musical trends, to look for groups seeming to me alternative.

After more than a year of prospecting on the underground scene, here we are in Bangkok to meet the persons contacted by e-mail, we secretly hope to go even farther and are ready for the surprises.

The best way still is to meet the on-the-spot artists, for the first stage of "  Where is my Underground!! "

Meeting with Gap:

This " original Rastafarian Thai " is symbolic of the Thai underground culture …

In spite of the difficulties to be able to meet him, the shared moments were unforgettable and his performances dub in live were as high as his reputation.

His human and musical "vibes" shaken our souls.

Meeting with Chris Menist :

We felt obliged to try to meet Chris Menist so much he is inescapable regarding alternative and traditional music, nicknamed "Indiana Jones" of Thai music on the site CNN.

Finder, fastidious and loving collector of vynils, his live performances and his shooting in favour of the traditional musics will delight the purists and the curious.

This artist stands out as one carry word of the "trendy" Thai underground scene!

Meeting with BKK invaders:

To approach Bkk Invaders, we had many traps and outwit a wonderful chance to finally discover a live loan American hip hop culture laid the foundations of a cons-culture that permeates the musical expressions beyond the borders .

Meeting with Dragon:

Through his portrait expresses the strength of the movements of alternative music. Charisma, the energy ration and kindness of this artist, representing modest Thai underground scene, we were affected

Meeting with Thaitanium :

In Bangkok and in Thailand, Thaitanium has a real legitimacy, they are considered as pioneers of the Thai rap and even if from now on their success propelled them in a more commercial circuit, to know their point of view on underground current and to discover their intact motivation was a big moment.

Meeting with Nakadia :

Djette electronic music becoming a reference, the artist combines beauty and technicality, but the meeting was easy we were energized by her desire to create and  her virtuosity.

She is the charm and the weapons of cons-culture.

Meeting with Sticky-Rice:

There are many  Reggae bands in Thailand, but reggae bands without guitar, with a singer who plays the keyboard as Ray Manzarek of "Doors" with passages funk, electro, jazz and experimental, there is only one!

These artists are amazing and totally crazy , we were definitively surprised

Meeting with Ninano-Nanda

Halfway between Bjork and Aphex twin, Ninano-Nanda plays a music mixing traditional singings, atmospheric musics and falling over to a punchy electro music in the vocoded machine.

The public remained stoical so surprised by the performance but everybody  found that far too short …

This couple of artists represents counterculture in what it has of more free and more crazy and their personalities are more than charming

Meeting with Pok-Stylish Nonsense:

This meeting marks the end of our adventure, here we are at the side of a pillar of the Thai underground scene, founder of an independent and influential  label , this artist  is secret and respected.

We shared with this purist of instructive and fascinating moments.

Why fund it?

We have already explored Bangkok for a month and a half for over a year in advance to find artists and prepare this first exploration (handheld camera to collect testimonies and anecdotes.)

I personally invested in equipment location and travel part .
