BONHEUR
Bonheur is the next creation of the Love Labo company, directed by Nathalie Broizat. It is a piece for 3 dancers and 1 musician. The premiere will take place in January 2025 at Antre-Peaux in Bourges before touring to Marseille and Lille, returning to Paris. Hopefully we will come to you to the United-States ! How much was our vision of happiness marked by the 1980's and what are the consequences today ? Bonheur looks at the questions of norms and freedom shaped by the 80s: the post-modern individual in a period full of creativity, desires and clashes of styles, shaped by global and cultural financialization. As a perspective, the piece questions what happiness could be today, at a time when our modes of existence are being challenged. The following pics were taken at a first meeting with the dancers (no set, no costumes yet). Labanist, she works with the performance technique of multidisciplinary American artist Rachel Rosenthal (1926-2015), an avant-garde eco-feminist activist. Nathalie Broizat uses optimism and militant joy as material allowing a transformation of “what is happening to us”. Philosophy underlies her artistic approach, and her reference are Anna Lauwenhaupt Tsing, Achille Mbembe and Paul B Preciado. Popular philosophies to respond to numerous contemporary issues, they also mark a true political aesthetic. Love Labo develops an artistic practice through the medium of dance and contemporary performance in artistic creation and pedagogy, hoping to promote peace through arts. Transdisciplinarity and collaboration are becoming a major issue to focus on, and Nathalie Broizat puts the choreographic medium at the service of this approach. LOVE LABO / PRESENTATION Nathalie Broizat created the Love Labo Company in 2015 and benefited from a residency at the Foundation of the United States at the Cité Internationale universitaire de Paris. In 2018, she received a commission from the Caen Choreographic Center to create a dance conference on the relationship between Rachel Rosenthal and Robert Rauschenberg, presented as part of the “20th century etc” conferences in collaboration with Le Frac Normandie Caen and the Ensam. This was followed by the creation of InstantT2020 for 10 dancers at the opening of the Festival Danse Dense at the Théâtre Berthelot in Montreuil in March 2020 (tour interrupted by the coronavirus lockdown), then the creation of InstantT, a piece for 7 dancers in April 22 for the Artdanthé Festival at the Théâtre de Vanves. Love Labo received support from Danse Dense from 2019 to 2022. In 2023, Nathalie Broizat received research and heritage support from the National Dance Center for her research project on DbD, supported by the Fondation des Etats-Unis. She is now preparing her next creation, Bonheur, a piece for 4 performers. Connected to creation, Nathalie Broizat develops a vast artistic and cultural education program for professional, school and amateur audiences as well as in the humanitarian context. She also organizes Happenings with middle and high school classes, which are choreographic events happening in an impromptu way into the landscape of daily life. Her artistic workshops have been conducted in numerous contexts including the following: as part of 10 Months of School and Opera, a program led by the Opéra National de Paris, Danse Dense and the Rectorate of Versailles (January 2023 and May 2023), in 2021 and 2022 at the Lycée Suger in Saint Denis (project carried out in partnership with Danse Dense and the Ile de France Regional Council, hosted by the Foundation of the United States), at the Sloveig College in Montreuil as part of the CAC course (2020), at the Lycée Marc Bloch in Bischheim (2018 + 2019), at the Collège François Truffaut in Gonesse (2019), in a master class at the National Dance Center (2018), in Calcutta in India with young women survivors of human trafficking (2018), etc... She has led numerous workshops in collaboration with the Rectorate of Versailles (season 21/22 and 22/23) at the Opéra-Comique, at the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris, at the Victor Hugo Museum and the Potager du Roi in Versailles and participated in the Academic Dance Meetings in 2022 at La Villette. In 2023, she also led a series of workshops for children aged 8 at the Ecole de Pantin on the theme of ecology as part of the Adage program.
I am calling to crowdfunding in a time of crisis for everyone and your support is more valuable than ever. Performing arts economy is greatly impacted by inflation, and young companies are the first to be impacted. Yet, Love Labo is blooming and receiving recognition from institutional partners after several years of hard work. The crowdfunding will help finance an important step for the company in December. Love Labo continues the development of artistic actions with amateur, professional and in the education field, as well as in the humanitarian context. Thus, by supporting this creative project, you also support the educational and cultural project linked to it. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS PRECIOUS SUPPORT!
