Bottommost - Drummer Guilhem Flouzat's 5th album

Bottommost means both what's deepest within us and the very last item on a list, the most negligible. This album, my 5th as a leader, is a dive into the most fundamental aspects of our lives, a source of joy and terror. It is the follow up to Turn the Sun to Green, as though we followed the same character three years later. Both thorough-composed and free, this record is the product of a very intense introspective and compositional process. So far it is entirely self produced. I now need your support to share it with as many people as possible. THE BAND Isabel Sörling - Voice, backing vocals Laurent Coq - Piano, rhodes Ralph Lavital - Guitar, whistles Desmond White - Double bass Guilhem Flouzat - Drums, composition and lyrics, backing vocals Tony Paeleman - Recording and Mixing. It's the same band as on the previous record, they are able to transcend the charts to bring to light the madness, the vulnerability, the passion. We spent two days in a studio, mostly recording takes together in the same room. THE GUESTS Aaron Parks - Piano Antonin Tri-Hoang - Alto saxophone and magnetic tapes Michael Valeanu - Guitar Aaron Parks improvises on a composition dedicated to him, SCARECROW. On STONE, Antonin Tri inserted othewordly interludes, in a song celebrating the slow and steady building of love's temple. Michael Valeanu spews acid and funk on SAPPHIRE, a song about rage. Their presence allow the songs to go way beyond my initial intent. WHAT WE'VE ACHIEVED ALREADY The album was recorded in two days by Tony Paeleman at Midi Live studios. It was mixed by Tony and mastered by Simon Lancelot. It will be released in January on the Sense Music labe The painter Marie Larrivé created an original work for the album's artwork.
