WHO IS ELEPHANTS ALIVE?

ELEPHANTS ALIVE is a registered Non-Profit Organization which exists since 2003 with 1 mission: ensure the survival of elephants and their habitat and to promote harmonious co-existence between man and elephants.

You can learn more about them on their website http://www.elephantsalive.org

WHAT DO THEY DO?

To do so, they collect datas thanks to collars put on elephants with GPS, they analyze their mouvements and the complex relationships that elephants have with each other and their surroundings, including the people with whom they share their world.

They also work on in some very innovative projects like the Bees project: Elephants are not really fan of Bees so by putting Beehives on specific trees it allows to protect those trees from elephants who love to push them down (especially one named Marula Tree from which the famous liqueur Amarula is made). They push the trees to reach the fruits on top or the leaves or in winter, when water is rare, to access to the roots of the tree, which provide nutrients.

MY PROJECT

I am helping them organizing a fundraising event in South Africa happening in November to collect enough funds to finance those projects. Every single euro dollars rand pound dirham will help!!!

Elephants are such iconic animals in Africa, unfortunately with the poaching and the lost of their habitat, they struggle in some specific fenced area where they, because of the lack of space, start to damage trees which can also create animal/human conflict.

To be able to put collars, to track them with GPS, to study their impact on trees and vultures nests that are using those trees, they need money for sure.

So what if you became part of that adventure by contributing with a donation.

Each of you can make the difference and help.

Let's be factual now!

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH THIS FUND?

I think for you to understand better I will show you the cost of each different actions or projects that ELEPHANTS ALIVE is working on:

To collar an elephant (including vet, helicopter, the team, the collar..) = 5250$ (R 70000)

To support the Bees/Trees/Elephant project = 750$

to cover just the annual service fees for each collar = 250$

to monitore the vulture nest tree survey = 75$

...

So here for that personal fundraising I am doing today I will have a first objective which will be:

To reach the first step of 750€to support the Bees Project

Then if we manage to get it thanks to all of you, we will try to go further for the step 2 which will be to get as close as possible from

The 5000€ for the collaring elephant project

Non-Profit Organization like ELEPHANTS ALIVE, help to ensure the survival of this fascinating gentle giants. I am sure all of you have seen documentaries on TV about wildlife in the African bush, we can't even imagine it without the elephants being part of it..
