<h2><em><strong>I present:</strong></em></h2> <p>​A&nbsp;<strong>choreographic solo</strong> on the music of <strong>Johann Sebastian Bach</strong>, violin partita N&deg;2 in D minor, BWV 1004 : IV. Gigue</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h2><strong><em>The reasons / desires:</em></strong></h2> <p>In recent years I started<strong> to create films</strong> from my choreographic work. I like this medium in particular for a number of reasons, not only <strong>to realize</strong> what was originally just an idea, but also <strong>to guide the spectator&rsquo;s view</strong> to the essential points of my vision. This becomes an important aspect of <strong>my aesthetic</strong>. Several examples of these films are available on my website.</p> <p style="text-align:center"><a href="http://www.juliannicosia.com/">www.juliannicosia.com</a></p> <p>The making of a film presents <strong>several challenges</strong>. First, the choice of location. As I am perpetually searching for <strong>atypical settings</strong>, these places require the addition of technical specifications such as a dance floor, lighting, and possibly scenery, which is not always available onsite.</p> <p>Another challenge is<strong> the continuous learning</strong> of new technical skills at the various stages of the project. While working independently, I go from technician to costume and lighting designer, to sound mixer and video editor. All these experiences are <strong>hugely enriching</strong> for an artist, however, I would like to <strong>improve the quality</strong> of each of these aspects in my films. For this to be achieved,<strong> collaboration with professionals</strong> throughout the development and production of the project is necessary. Therefore, the issue of <strong>financing</strong> it becomes inseparable from<strong> the realization</strong> of the idea.</p> <p>Last June, during a discussion with the dancer Zoe Lenzi Allaria, we decided to create<strong> a solo on pointe</strong>. The next day we started to create without knowing <strong>where it will lead us</strong>. A few months later, we are at the <strong>last stage</strong> of this project: Professionally <strong>filming and producing</strong> a choreographic work. She first studied ballet at the Proscaenium in Italy. From 2012 to 2016 she studied at the Palucca University of Dance Dresden, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. During these years, she has taken part in workshops of George Balanchine, Ohad Naharin&rsquo;s Gaga movement language and William Forsythe and worked with choroegraphers such as Ihsan Rustem and Katharina Kristl, among others.&nbsp;She joined the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company in&nbsp;November 2016.</p> <p style="text-align:center">&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align:center">&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align:center">&nbsp;</p> <h3 style="text-align:center"><em><strong>Julian Nicosia</strong></em></h3> <p style="text-align:center"><img alt="" src="https://d3v4jsc54141g1.cloudfront.net/uploads/project_image/image/619784/20180929_Julien-094-1569618982.jpg" width="100%" /></p> <p><strong>&copy;&nbsp;</strong>Philipp Klemm</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Born in Saint-Etienne France in 1989. Julian&nbsp;studied at the Conservatoire National Sup&eacute;rieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon from 2006 to 2010.</p> <p>He began his career as a dancer at&nbsp;the&nbsp;Ballet de l&rsquo;Op&eacute;ra de Lyon in 2010&nbsp;under the artistic direction of Yorgos Loukos. During five years in the company, Julian&nbsp;performed in and&nbsp;created works for the most notables Choreographer including William Forsythe, Jiř&iacute; Kyli&aacute;n, Mats EK, Trisha Brown, Ohad Naharin,&nbsp;Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Maguy Marin&nbsp;among others.<br /> In 2015, Julian&nbsp;began to dance for the world renowned Choreographer Jacopo Godani in Frankfurt am Main.
