Since I joined the scouts, I see Compagnons's project as a sort of outcome, a thing not to be missed. Today I too can bring my help, however modest it is, to an international project of solidarity."

Our action

The project

« But the real way to get happiness is by giving out happiness to other people » (Baden Powell)

This quote from the founder of scouting summarizes perfectly the state of mind in which we were during the creation of this project.

What can we bring to people who live so differently from us? Weren't we taking the risk of contention, or worse, of doing more wrong than good, even with our best intentions?

Thus we looked for a project which would ensure a sort of continuity, in which our passage would maybe not leave any material track, but where we would really be able of going to meet those who are different from us, of sharing, of exchanging with this people.

This project is thus a project of itinierant cinema : we're planning on showing several movies and/or cartoons in every village we shall visit.

We also plan on organizing several activities like sketches, songs, and dances to help the youngest in their French learning. We're thinking of asking theater, music and dance teachers's help for the preparation of the activities.

Besides opening a window on a world which is unknow to them through the simple and intercultural tool of cinema (the images allowing to go beyond the words, and thus beyond the barrier of the language), our purpose is thus to help also the children to practise French during their holidays, in a playful manner.

Why teach them French? Because if the common language is the Malagasy, French is still the official language, which it is necessary to master to be able to apply for some important posts.

Certainly the children of these villages will not become all ambassadors, but it will give them the necessary tools for the possibility of a life outside their village.

La pratique

We will leavin in partnership with the French association : Écoles du Monde (Schools of the World).

This association arose from an alarming report : the inhabitants of isolated vilages, attracted by the mirage that cities are, migrate there massively to meet, most of the time, even more difficult living conditions and multiple dangers.

To fight against this plague, a team constitued itself over the years, in France and in the region of Mahajanga, around Charles Gassot founder and current president of the association.

Écoles du Monde is nowedays one of the rare NGO which work in the Northwest of the "Big Island".

In parallel of our meetings with the association, we also got in touch with boy scouts of Antananarivo (the capital of Madagascar). Indeed, in case of a travel in a foreign country, the scout tradition wants that we meet the national scout movement from this country.

They answered at once our demand, and our collaboration is based on a continuous exchange since we decided to make this project together.

Their participation isn't only a logistic matter: they will be present throughout our stay to assure us a guide in front of locol habits and customs (and the possible linguistic difficulties), and also to share with us thus experiment.

Allocation of funds

We'll personally receive your donations, on our team's account.

Even if we'll find in Madagascar some equipment of projection supplied by Ecoles du Monde, it is necessary for us to also have extra equipment, to avoid that the project falls through at the first break or loss during the trip.

We'll need an extra computer and a pair of extra baffles, as well as a portable battery to be able to charge all this equipment.

It is thus in these purchases that your donations will go.

In the case where the collection would exceed the sum for which we're asking, your donations will help us to finance other aspects of our budget, like the plane tickets which, as you can see on our projected budget below, constitute most of our projected spending

The fiscal advantages :

Furthermore, we want to indicate you that the Scouts et Guides de France movement (member of the World Organization of Scouting) having obtained the status of public interest, a donation gives rise to the edition of a fiscal receipt opening a right to a tax reduction for the private individuals, and a tax deduction for the companies.

- For a private individual : 66% of the donation is deductible from the amount of the income tax within the limits of 20% of its taxable income.

- For a company : 60% of the donation is tax-deductible on companies or on income within the limites of 0.5% of the turnover.

Our temporary calendar:

We plan on buying the plane tickets by the end of February, thanks to an advance of our scout group. Each of us is personally taking care of his vaccines and his insurance for repatriation, and taking of VISA will be in June.

As for the purchase of the equipment which your donations will allow, we plan on making it in April at the latest.

You will receive the counterparties of your donations in August as for postcards, and in September for the other ones.
